Ethanol doesn't deliver

Presidential candidates from both main parties are singing the praises of ethanol, particularly the E-85 variant. Iowa, home of the first presidential caucus in the country, just happens to be a corn state. Coincidence? Ummm - of course not.

North Carolina a Leader...In Studies

Cross Posted from NC Consumers for Biofuels.

North Carolina’s plan for biofuels is nothing more than pie-in-the-sky thinking. The plan should be applauded for its vision, but it does too little and too late. It wants to make the state a leader in the Mid-Atlantic and Southern states, but 2017 is too late. Identified in the plan are nine strategies.

The myth of putting corn in your tank.

This past February the world community of scientists published a report on global warming under the umbrella of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). That report concluded that global warming is “unequivocal” and human activity is the main driver, “very likely” causing most of the rise in temperatures since 1950.

While the rest of the world moves on and is rapidly trying to find solutions for this global environmental crisis, a few republicans pretend nothing is going on. One of them, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), even thinks global warming is caused by farting.

So with most people being worried about global warming, except for a few republicans who also still believe that Earth is flat, folks are looking for solutions to be a little more earth and climate friendly. A lot of them seem to think that one solution for environmentally friendly fuel is corn. They couldn't be more wrong.

Ethanol Plant Planned in Cumberland County

From today's Fayetteville Observer

A Seattle company called E85 Inc. plans to build a plant north of Fayetteville that will produce 100 million gallons of ethanol each year.

The $200 million plant would be the company’s first and its flagship. E85 wants to build nine others across the country and use as much locally grown corn as possible.

There are plenty of incentives on the table. This could be the start of something big. More below the fold....

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
