Foxx

Preamble to War?

Foxx, Shuler, Coble, and Miller have all put their name on House Concurrent Resolution 362 that expresses Iran's threat to US interests and demands that Bush impose strict sanctions.

Shuler/ Carter Event in Winston (Why you should attend)

I am happy to announce a special fundraising event in Winston-Salem on May 15 with Congressman Heath Shuler. We are honored to have his support and are looking forward to this exciting event. Details follow.

I hope that you will all attend, and if you can't attend, I hope that you will still make a donation. Coach Carter needs you now more than ever.

This is why.

People Above Politics (every time)

As we head into the final days of the primary election Roy Carter is working hard to bring his message to the people in the 5th district, and one thing has never been more clear- Roy Carter is the exactly what we need in Washington.

Join fellow supporters on March 13th to support Roy Carter and his bid for Congress at this fundraiser in the Winston Salem area. (note: no real Foxes were harmed in the planning of this party)

Foxx’s Clemens Crush Says It All

Yesterday, on national TV, Virginia Foxx showed the world exactly what kind of representative she is- one that can be bought and sold, cheaply. In five minutes of the Clemens hearing we learned how she does her job and how she represents us. Her (embarrassing) performance reminds me...

Publicly Financed Campaigns Exist Already

She is at it again.
Last night, checking my mail like a patient being psychoanalyzed, my thoughts were random, but external. Rather than relaxing on Freud’s sofa and giving insight into a preconscious I stood at my kitchen table, thoughts organized in the order of the shuffled mail for that day. Then it caught my attention. "110th Congress." Yeah, still better then the 109th, I thought. Then, I opened it up. An 8.5x11 gorgeous piece of junk mail, a two-page layout, full color with pictures.

Roy Carter Live-blogging Tuesday 4pm

Join us tomorrow at 4:00pm to chat with Roy Carter, the man who is going to kick Virginia Foxx's fanny take NC's fifth district seat for Democrats in 2008.

You can learn more about Roy by visiting his bio page on his web site. There have also been several diaries written here on BlueNC.

Please join us, but if you can't be here, use this thread to leave questions. I will post the live-blog thread a few minutes before 4pm.

A Quick Virginia Foxx Fact Check

In which we dissect Virginia Foxx's claim that education spending and outcome are unrelated.

Let's Help Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC)

Winston-Salem's own rightwing nutjob, GOP Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina's Fifth Congressional District, is asking for your input. Seriously!

Click here to see the survey!

The three questions asked:

Do you support a Federal Marriage Amendment that defines marriage in the U.S. as a union between one man and one woman?

Do you support abolishing the current tax code and starting with one that is fairer and flatter?

[She had me until "flatter."]

Do you support the war on terrorism and a victory in Iraq as a key to winning the War on Terror?

[That "and" is pretty darned tricky, isn't it?]

I think that the BlueNC community ought to surf on over and take her survey. Right there on the website, it says, "Congresswoman Fox wants to hear from you..."

Don't you think she needs to hear from us?

HR-4, Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act

Here are the votes on HR-4, Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act.

The total votes were 255 votes "Yea," and 170 votes "No," which is 35 votes short of what it will take to override Bush's promised veto. Only Walter Jones crossed party lines on this one.

District 01 Butterfield, G K (D) - Yea
District 02 Etheridge, Bob (D) - Yea
District 03 Jones, Walter B Jr (R) - Yea
District 04 Price, David (D) - Yea
District 05 Foxx, Virginia (R) - No
District 06 Coble, Howard (R) - No
District 07 McIntyre, Mike (D) - Yea
District 08 Hayes, Robin (R) - No
District 09 Myrick, Sue (R) - No
District 10 McHenry, Patrick (R) - No
District 11 Shuler, Heath (D) - Yea
District 12 Watt, Melvin L (D) - Yea
District 13 Miller, Brad (D) - Yea

Once again, we see the Party of Greed following their marching orders from big pharma. If it's OK for the VA to negotiate lower drug prices, how can it not be OK for Medicare, too?

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
