Why America needs John Edwards as our next President (Revised)

The clamor for the White House is on with a vengence. Clinton, Romney, Obama, Thomson, Huckabee, McCain, Biden and a fountain of other well known Washington insiders, many steeped in years of cozy relationships, cloak and dagger histories of deal making and inside political trading, not focused on Americas well being, but aimed and purposed for the retention of power or extending one’s influence. Political dynasties somehow permitted by the electorate to remain, in many cases, at the expense of America’s democratic health and vitality. We have permitted old money, old influence and all the political experience and seasoning it could buy to get us where we are today, drowning in two wars and a nine trillion dollar debt, trillion with a “T”.

How can you have any Freedom without any Responsibility?

I am so glad Rep. Miller is in Washington working to uncover the corruption and end the abuse of this Administration. Still, I so wish we could all get our families and neighbors to care more. I believe The corruption and abuse will stop on the day that the American people wake up and say, "Stop."

This post is my reaction to this article posted by the incredible Betsy Muse.

Fp'd by Betsy because a rant can be a beautiful thing....and well, she called me incredible. :)

A Letter From Becky Adame in Support of her Husband and Candidate for Congress, Marshall Adame

Hello,
My name is Becky Adame. Marshall Adame is my husband of 38 years. (We were 16 and 17 years old when we married).

Marshall loves blogging at BlueNC and feels he has many friends there, so I asked him if he would mind if I wrote this letter for the BlueNC family.

Marshall is running in a real uphill race for Congress in North Carolina's 3rd District, where he is the Democratic Candidate against a very entrenched 7 term Republican incumbent. He needs your help. His race will be an uphill battle.

The Political Reformation Coming to America;

A Reformation is a new morning, an improvement, a renovation or, restoration. I believe that America is on the verge of just such a new morning, a reformation. I admit to being an optimist, but I am also grounded in a lifetime of real experiences and having been present during many significant worldly events. Because I believe a Democrat will be elected in 2008, to replace President Bush, I feel a renewal to Americas commitment to human rights, justice and the return to checks and balances in our government is just on our political horizon and I am raring to see it happen and be part of its rebirth.

Soon, I believe, America will be waking to the real prospect of universal health care, an end to America’s military involvement in Iraq’s civil war and the beginning of a worthy and long overdue American war; a war on poverty, hunger and sickness in America first and to the world as well. Our trade deficiencies will be addressed and the hard work of reducing the crippling Ten Trillion dollar U.S. deficit left by the Bush Administration will begin.

Six things that trouble me, and Five that assure me, as an American Democrat

Six Things that trouble me:
1. I am sorry that that Republicans and many Democrats venerate their party more than their country. Blind faith in any political, or government system is rarely healthy.

2. It appears that President Bush and the Republican Politicians have almost succeeded in convincing the American People that war is a good thing. How sad it was that our President chose to use our 9/11 tragedy as a tool for instilling fear and hatred in the American people.

3. I am saddened by the political division which has fallen on America due to the years of Presidential and Republican arrogance, dishonesty and failure to adhere to Democratic standards of conduct from 2000-2006.
The Republican Party has even effectively used God to denigrate those who do not follow their precepts; making God, the creator of the universe, nothing more than a political supporter of the Republican Party. It will take some time to restore the damage caused by the Republican Party in their reckless quest for power and control of America. The Republican Party, led by the President, tried to keep us
afraid. They failed.

Being A Democrat Today

I have always been a Democrat. If my definition of the word Democrat were in the dictionary, it would simply say “The People”.

I remember being in my 5th grade class at Sunset Elementary school in La Puente California when, one day in 1963, our School Principal, Mr. Hackleman, came into the room. He was sort of crying. He told us that our President, John F. Kennedy (JFK), had been mortally wounded in Dallas Texas. He sent us home.

As the next few years went by, we were all taught about the greatness of John F. Kennedy and how he had a dream for America where we would all be free and happy, where all Americans would enjoy the fullness of liberty promised to us by our U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. He talked about a strong America, second to none; whose primary goal in the world was peace, freedom and prosperity. He welcomed all countries to join in the vision for a free and sharing world and warned those who would seek to hurt America, or her friends, that although our strength was meant for good, we would defend our free way of life and our friends in the world.

Zoning Out Thoughts Asheville/Buncombe Co

At meetings of both the Asheville City Council and the Buncombe County Commissioners last night, two important issues were addressed.
The City postponed a decision on a "steep slope" development regulation. Meanwhile, across the alley, the County approved its first zoning law 3-2.
