green energy

Green industry is popping up everywhere.

Or it should be. I honestly think it will be, very soon.

NC is perfectly suited to play a huge roll in the coming economic boom brought by Green based industries. As we all become more aware of how great a difference we can make by making small changes in buying habits, energy use, and water use, we all become a part of the solution. We know in our hearts that we must do this. There is no more time to wait and see.

ACTION NEEDED: NC Green Act

I'm running a bit late on this, because the committee meeting is tomorrow (Thursday) at 1 PM, but please take a look to see if you've got a representative on the committe, and if so, please contact them.

Duke Energy is allowed one of two plants

Today the Utilities Commissions announced its decision to allow Duke Energy only one of the two coal fired plants at Cliffside.

All the news all month long, from the Oscars, from Texas, from e v e r y w h e r e,
was not supporting the application by Duke Energy.

Apparently one of the Commissioners was opposed to both of the plants. Since Duke Energy had already stated that they would not build just one, this provides some wrinkles in the rush to add more coal fired plants.

Thanks to the growth in public concern for global warming and for the effects of CO2 emissions from coal fired plants.

Ethanol Plant Planned in Cumberland County

From today's Fayetteville Observer

A Seattle company called E85 Inc. plans to build a plant north of Fayetteville that will produce 100 million gallons of ethanol each year.

The $200 million plant would be the company’s first and its flagship. E85 wants to build nine others across the country and use as much locally grown corn as possible.

There are plenty of incentives on the table. This could be the start of something big. More below the fold....

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
