impeachment

Dear Congressman Price

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I've heard you make the case that impeachment proceedings in the US House of Representatives would be a waste of time and a distraction. And you've heard me ask the question: distraction from what? It's clear that Congress is mired in a stalemate that will not end until Democrats have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. And in the meantime, only a few matters of significance are moving through the legislative pipeline.

Is Impeachment Off the Table?

I sent another letter to the most heinous Rep.R. Hayes.
Not the first, not the last..may not even matter..
He would have to recognize the difference between right and wrong and actually "listen" to the constituents for it to matter.. big duh, huh..

Representative Robin Hayes
Independence Avenue and 1st Street, SE
Washington, DC 20515-3308

Dear Representative Hayes,

I support House Resolution 799 calling for the impeachment of Vice
President Richard Cheney. I also support the impeachment of George W.
Bush. As your constituent, I am writing to insist that you and the
rest of the House of Representatives carry out your constitutional
duties to defend the Constitution of the United States by supporting
impeachment.

Impeachment debate

Spent a little time on the phone with Michael Tomasky and Bruce Fein who are coming to Carrboro to debate the impeachment of the president and vice president. Nice chat with each. Tomasky, who was covering the NH primary, was very straight up about the political reality. Fein doesn't want to see the administration get away with it and made a heck of an analysis of the global and local consequences.
Should be a swell time. Here's the story from The Citizen with the time and location (after the jump, of course):

NC-11: Shuler ♥ Cheney?

(c/p from ScruHoo)

The Asheville Citizen-Times ran this letter to the editor this morning, a telling indicator of Congressman Shuler's dwindling progressive support in the 11th District:

Polls show a majority of Americans favor impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney for deceptions and abuses of power. However, Rep. Heath Shuler still supports the vice president. Shuler refuses to co-sign Articles of Impeachment against Cheney.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
