Special for BlueNC - Resolutions for the upcoming NC Democratic Party SEC meeting

Following up on my overview blog post about results from 11 Statewide Regional Town meetings of the NC Democratic Party, here is the package of resolutions to be considered at Saturday's (Aug 25, 2007) State Executive Committee meeting in Greensboro. Please see my prior BlueNC post for more information about what is on the minds of Democrats statewide.

STATEWIDE REGIONAL TOWN MEETINGS SUCCESSFUL: Democrats Strident in Developing Action Items

Over the course of 4 weeks (July-Aug 2007) I trekked hither and yon across the Tar Heel State as part of my chairing eleven regional town hall meetings.

Where is Liddy on the Issues?

Dole Rejected Minimum Wage Hike Three Times. Dole voted three times against raising the minimum wage. Because of the lack of action by a Republican Congress, the real value of the minimum wage fell to a 51-year low. [Vote 179, 6/21/06; Vote 26, 3/7/05; Vote 257, 10/19/05]

Dole Voted to Keep Tax Incentives for Offshore Companies. In 2005, Dole voted against an amendment that would repeal tax incentives for domestic companies that move their manufacturing plants to offshore locations and use the resulting revenue to reduce the federal deficit and debt by $3.2 billion from 2006 to 2010. [Vote 63, 3/17/05]

Myrick hires illegal immigrants?

I just heard a rumor that Sue Myrick’s family has hired illegal immigrants to work at their restaurants. This would be another shocking example of the hypocrisy practiced by the conservative right recently, and one of which voters should be aware. As usual, the mainstream Charlotte media has chosen to suppress this story for seemingly overt political reasons. Has anyone heard anything about this???

Appalachia Thanks Congress (for giving their next pay raise to US!)

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
