A great way to fight hate speech

My good friend Mark Kleinschmidt is an anti-death penalty attorney and a twice-elected member of the Chapel Hill Town Council. He is also gay. This last fact qualified him for membership on a list that is making the rounds on hate sites called the "National List Of Openly-Homosexual Public Officials."

An 'American' Success Story

This morning, on CBS Sunday Morning, they had a segment called Reporting The Good News

In it they had three short stories about three differant people.

One was about a kid in NOLA called Weeding By Example

Last August, Hartman visited a teenager who mowed the lawn at New Orleans City park and helped grow the community's optimism.

A second was called Running On The Memories

In October, Hartman met a man whose very first car not only wins at antique car shows but also keeps the memory of his first and only love alive to him and to all who come see the show.

In Memory of Major James Michael Ahearn

I just lost a good friend. We only knew each other for three years, but we became friends when he needed a real estate agent. He called me from Iraq where he was serving his second tour. He was disappointed with the agent he had, so he wanted to hire me. Well, the house sold in two weeks, so he thought I was the best agent that ever lived. We all know that wasn't true. It was just the timing. We get the credit and the blame. Most of the time neither one is deserved.

What are you thankful for?

November 23rd, a day of Thanks for all Americans is also my husband’s birthday. I am thankful for being in the right place at the right time to find him. Thirty three years later, I am still in love with this man.

Our son, David is in the air as I type this, on his way to Japan to attend Akikio's (his fiancé) sisters wedding. I am thankful for this boy who has turned into a wonderful man and even though his father went to school almost every day that he did, David still turned out to be quite a guy.

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory says he wants to change the culture in Raleigh. I guess that's why he wrote this letter to PAC lobbyists asking for their fundraising help. Change you can believe in? Riiiiiiight. Join the conversation here.
