All I want for my birthday is ...
Submitted by Oliver Queen on Fri, 05/23/2008 - 3:00pm.a Democratic Congress!
A little background: I've been living out of my truck since September, working for various progressive Democratic causes across the country. In September, I went to Jena. In the fall, I led a grassroots group to save mass transit funding in Charlotte, NC while working on the Democratic coordinated campaign for the local races in Charlotte. In November, I started working in Iowa for Joe Biden. And in January, I moved to Chapel Hill to work for Jim Neal. But I'm turning 23 today on the 23rd, and I'm ready to work for a Democratic Congress the best way I know how - with ActBlue!
What's kept me sane has been the generosity and energy of the volunteers on all of these campaigns. I met some of the nicest people (and best cooks) I've ever met in Iowa, while activists in Chapel Hill graciously opened their houses to me. I owe a lot of friends - some of them bloggers here at Daily Kos - a big thank you for their help (a few of them even thought enough of me to elect me as a Democratic Presidential Elector in NC-12 earlier this week).
So, in the spirit of gratitude - all I want for my birthday is Democratic victory in November! More below the fold ...
NC-05: Republicans on the Run
Submitted by tsitfel on Thu, 05/22/2008 - 3:35pm.North Carolina’s fifth district, spanning the northwest corner of the state, is currently represented by second term congresswoman Virginia Foxx, who, in addition to being in lockstep with President Bush on nearly every issue, has voted against SCHIP, Hurricane Katrina Relief, and extending the Voting Rights Act. Challenging her is Roy Carter, a longtime high school teacher and football coach whose dedication to public service spans 40 years. This district, until recently a Republican stronghold, is energized for change. Foxx’s approval rating within the district has been dropping steadily for months, and currently is among the lowest of active representatives.

Virginia Foxx's Name Calling and Scare Tactics
Submitted by dianehambyforco... on Tue, 03/18/2008 - 1:38pm.The Charlotte Observer recently ran a story about Virginia Foxx's comments to members of Charlotte's Chamber of Commerce that were visiting Washington. ("Scary Politics")Surely the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce knew that Ms. Foxx screamed the sky is falling because Democrats control the US House. Her party has borrowed and spent their way into the history books as having racked up more debt than all previous administrations combined. Her party has led us to the brink and instead of taking responsibility she has chosen to resort to name calling and scare tactics.
