Yard Sign Violence

So I snapped this pic with my phone this morning as it was the third shredded one I ran across while leaving Greensboro to head to work this morning.

Now I’m an old-tymer. I am well aware that yard signs are the most common victims of campaign violence. However, I was concerned when we received a phone call from a concerned voter who stated that there were Ovittore signs in a closet at an early voting site.

And the investigation begins.....

Southern Pines Pilot recommends Jay Ovittore to voters in NC 06

The editors of The Pilot in Southern Pines has made, in my opinion, the right choice in recommending that Democratic and Unaffiliated voters that vote in the Democratic Primary in NC-06 choose Jay Ovittore as their candidate to face Howard Coble in November, who they believe it will be "hard to dislodge".

A Debate and The Fight That Followed

Cross posted on my campaign blog.

We had the first of three debates between myself and my two primary opponents last night. I thought the debate went well. The questions were quite canned and the format did not allow for rebuttal statements. I will have video of the debate online sometime this week hopefully.

Jay Ovittore Receives Key Endorsement

I am happy to announce a key endorsement of my campaign today. Tom Gilmore, former NC state house representative and former opponent of Howard Coble for the 6th, has formally endorsed my campaign.

Tom says, “This is the year for Howard to be defeated.” I think he is right. Any incumbent is vulnerable this year. Tom says of endorsing me, “It is time for new leadership.” I believe, like Tom, that I am that new leadership.

In the press release I stated that, “I am thrilled and honored to have such a remarkable man lend his weight toward my campaign. He is a man who is notorious for fighting the good fight, a man who has fought for change his entire life. I intend to continue that fight; the fight for what is best for the people.”

Let The Debates Begin

Cross posted at my campaign blog.

The first of maybe 3 debates between myself and my two primary opponents has been scheduled. It will be on March 25th at 8pm at Guilford College in the Joseph M. Bryan Jr. Auditorium of the Frank Family Science Center. Greensboro will host the first debate. Word is there will be two more outside of Greensboro. I hope that is the case.

I encourage you all to attend and show your support for me. This will be fun. I love talking about the issues.

I am told there will be press at the debate. I would love to have a cheering section. So please consider coming on out. What else do you have to do on a Tuesday night at 8? Oh yeah- American Idol is not an excuse!

NC District 6 - Interview with Jay Ovittore

Earlier this month, I asked Jay Ovitorre to answer a series of questions in depth to further illuminate his views on issues that are important to North Carolina's 6th District. Of course, the most important issue facing Democrats is unseating Howard Coble, who has long outstayed his welcome, and long ago outlived his pledge to only serve 6 terms under Newt Gingrich's Contract on America.(Please note: though the sneaky legislators that wrote this language left a loophole that a constitutional amendment might be necessary to enforce term limits, Howard Coble signed a pledge to limit himself. He hasn't done that. That makes him a liar. He has broken faith with his constiuents.)

Look below the fold for my email conversation with Jay, edited to fit your screen.

Just How Plugged In Are You?

This is cross posted at my campaign blog. I am reposting it here at the request of lcloud. The video is priceless, although the audio is quite low.

My opponent has endorsed Mitt Romney for President. He spoke yesterday on The Hill blog of Romney's Super Bad Tuesday.

Republican State Representative Calls Coble Ineffective

It seems that in the rush of the holidaze, I missed this little gem back in December at The Inside Scoop. NC-Rep Cary Allred (R-Alamance), has been trying to contact his US Congressman to get something taken care of for five years. On Dec. 3, at the Liberty town parade, Allred asked Rep. John Blust, who had been riding with our congressman, Howard Coble, "Would you please tell that a**hole to call me?" Apparently Coble finally got the message.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
