And the Race Begins in NC-6
Submitted by Jay Ovittore on Sat, 11/17/2007 - 2:14pm.So it's official. I am a candidate for the 6th District.
It has been a hectic couple of months of preparation in advance of the launch of my campaign. I am very excited to start to discuss the issues that effect regular people. I myself am a regular person, and by regular I mean that I was not born with or have ever acquired a silver spoon.
I have had to fight for everything I have in my adult life. I was lucky enough to have wonderfully supportive parents in my childhood and teenage years. I thrived during the Clinton era as the economy was stable and everyone was doing well. After being laid off right before Christmas 4 years ago, I started to recreate myself.

CQ Politics is reporting some action in NC-6.
Twelve-term Republican Rep. Howard Coble has drawn what appears to be a long-shot challenge from Democrat Johnny J. Carter. Carter’s FEC filing indicates he is general manager at Williams Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning in Greensboro, N.C., and has seeded his campaign with $5,000. Coble, who had $626,000 in his campaign account as of July 1, has won his past two elections with more than 70 percent of the vote.

Notes: Being an incumbent usually gives you a huge $ advantage. We have 3 challengers doing quite well. Brad Miller and Mel Watt both have challengers who have raised a considerable amount of money.
2 & 7-Etheridge and McIntire are sitting on a lot of cash. Except compared to Taylor and Hayes, who each have more than $1 million on hand. Look for the airwaves to get real ugly very soon.
5-Foxx outspent Sharpe 4 to 1.
8-Hayes outspent Kissell 2 to 1.
11-Taylor outspent Shuler 4 to 1.
13-Robinson outspent Miller 2 to 1, but Miller has more cash on hand.
