Burr Inaction

Richard Burr showed his true colors again this week by refusing to support The DISCLOSE Act, which would require corporations and interest groups to identify themselves when they sponsor political ads. I suppose Doug Clark is going to argue that BRB didn't really have anything to do with torpedoing this effort to insure transparency, that he was just an innocent bystander, like he was here on the floor of the Senate earlier this year.

Burr + 8 Republicans Don't Want Investigation....Breaking: Sun Rises in East!

Roll Call has a story up now about 9 Senators, including our very own Grand Obstructionist, Richard "Dick" Burr. A letter was sent to Attorney General Holder by 9 Republicans telling Holder not to appoint a special prosecutor on torture.

The letter was signed by Intelligence Vice Chairman Kit Bond (Mo.) and Intelligence members Sens. Saxby Chambliss (Ga.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), Orrin Hatch (Utah) and Richard Burr (N.C.), along with Minority Whip Jon Kyl (Ariz.) and Sens. Jeff Sessions (Ala.), John Cornyn (Texas) and Chuck Grassley (Iowa).

They claim that an investigation would

“tarnish the careers, reputations, and lives of intelligence community professionals” and that any investigation would “chill future intelligence activities.”
