Edwards Endorses Obama: "There is One Man..." (W/Video of Full Speech)

"There is one man who knows that knows and understands that this is a time for bold leadership. There is one man that knows how to create the change, the lasting change, that you have to build from the ground up. There is one man who knows in his heart there is time to create one America, not two ... and that man is Barack Obama, " John Edwards told a fired up crowd in Michigan, as he endorsed Barack Obama for President.

Thank You

Dear BlueNC,

I'd like to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation to all members of BlueNC.

NC Primary Watch: Why is NC Dem Party siding with Clinton on debates?

Polls show Sen. Barack Obama has a commanding lead in North Carolina -- but are operatives in the N.C. Democratic Party favoring Sen. Hillary Clinton? They are on at least one big issue: a proposed debate between the Democratic presidential candidates.

This week, N.C. Dem leaders have been demanding that Obama accept a debate hosted by CBS on April 27 -- a date favored by Clinton -- while ignoring earlier plans by CBS and the Obama campaign for an April 19 match-up.

On top of that, some are claiming behind the scenes that Obama doesn't want to debate in North Carolina, and calling into question his interest in the state.

What's going on here?

CORRECTION: 89,000 new voters in North Carolina -- who are they?

CORRECTION: We had an Excel problem which botched our figures on party registration. We correctly reported that 46% of new registrations since January were Democrat. However, only 17% of the new registrations were Republican. The remaining 37% were unaffiliated.

This is the first in a series of Facing South posts covering the upcoming North Carolina primary elections.

Like other states, North Carolina has witnessed a surge in voter registrations this election year. Nearly 89,000 new voters have registered to vote in the last three months, according to new statistics released last Friday.

Who are these new voters, who will be deciding the now-critical North Carolina primaries on May 6?

Building A Progressive Movement

Cross-posted from The Progressive Pulse

What did we learn from the week of Super Tuesday? Mostly this…if turnout matters, the Democrats kicked some Republican ass.

Just how bad was the Dems smackdown? The numbers are truly staggering. In the 19 states where both Republican and Democratic primaries were held, Democratic turnout was 73% greater.

John Edwards to Be Excluded from Ballot in NC

I read in the News-Observer that John Edwards is being excluded from the primary ballot for May. Why?

Still 'Undecided', Obama vs Clinton

Still not decided on who you might cast your ballot, or whatever, for?

Well The Real News have a few interviews with Jonathan Schell on his take on the candidates and their possible Foreign Policy Directions.

Who is Jonathan Schell, if you didn't already know:

The very weird campaign song choice of Hillary Clinton

Apparently the Hillary Clinton campaign has started using a song by the dutch rockband Golden Earring called "when the lady smiles".
The problem is that they apparently didn't bother looking at all the lyrics of the song and obviously never watched the video that accompanied it.

Today is the day Edwards supporters 'Ron Pauls' the Media

In case you had not heard, the net roots organizers for Edwards have declared Friday Jan 18, 2008 the Edwards 'moneybomb' day.

Why? Well for one, Ron Paul's supporters are showing the establishment that the net roots can generate publicity in ways that can not be ignored - money.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
