You Think Bush Hasn't Suffered?

Now, I know all you unfeeling, uncaring liberal jerks out there look at President Bush and see a man who knows nothing of sacrifice. But, you're wrong. Our president suffers, he gives up, he cares. Look no further than what W has sacrificed as a way to personally show his solidarity with our men and women in the military. No, it's not a financial contribution. No, not a bill or executive order. No, Barbara and Jenna aren't joining up or even going on a USO tour.

Our Commander-in-Chief has given up golf.

Arlington South

There are no words that can adequately convey the pain of losing a child to the harsh realities of war. It is a pain that Summer Lipford knows all too well and that George Bush will never know. Her determination to honor her son, and all of those lost in the Iraq War, came to fruition as she was able to construct, "Arlington South" in Statesville, NC at a park only a few blocks away from where her 20 year old son was laid to rest.

What's in your wallet soldier?

This story tells how a Ft. Bragg soldier's wife is getting the hand while her husband is deployed in Iraq. This is why I dropped Capital One years ago . As a side note, I found it via the Consumerist blog that does a fantastic job of showing the common person how to get the most for their money (and avoid rip-offs). Happy hump day!

Is Gay the new Black?

Interesting.

If you were wondering where Bush would get his extra troops, General John M. Shalikashvili (ret.), chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1993 to 1997, says it may be time to allow gay and lesbian soldiers in the US Military.

To me, what we have here isn't inclusion as much as a way to get extra bodies - sacrificial ones - on the front lines. History repeats itself.

I fear Pastor Martin Niemöller's words will be forgotten.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
