Robinson Wins Award for Worst TV Ad

Growth & Justice, a progressive think tank in Minnesota, just gave Vernon Robinson the "Willie" award for WORST Political Advertisement. The award is "named for the infamous fearmongering Willie Horton ad that led to George Bush defeating Michael Dukakis." See a small clip of U.S. Senate candidates Al Franken and Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer announce the award here.

Vernon Robinson is an Obama fan?

ok guys, I kept this a secret for a long time because I thought it might hurt the Obama campaign, but I feel like I can come out with it now it seems Obama has the nomination locked...
Vernon Robinson did door-to-door canvassing for Obama!
If you don't know who vernon Robinson is, he's about the nastiest politician you can imagine. There are plenty of stories about him on BlueNC, including one by Betsy.
Anyway, on to my "revelation".

John Birch Society Slams Richard Burr

It seems some of Richard Burr's strongest supporters are unhappy with him about his recent attempt to extend the debate in the Senate on illegal immigration. Jim Capo of The John Birch Society opened his piece by calling Burr's vote for cloture "traitorous" and followed with a detailed description of activity surrounding a vigil outside Burr's main North Carolina office.

I don't follow the John Birch Society, but this piece popped up in my Google alerts and I just had to see what they were saying about Burr and http://www.ncpolitico.com/node/46 >Robin Hayes. There were points in this piece that made me laugh 'til I cried.

Let's Get a Progressive Blogger in the U.S. Senate

Crossposted at Kos -Sam.

It's simple, really. We need a proven perspicacious progressive in the United States Senate to talk for Kossacks and, more importantly, Americans. We need United States Representative and fellow Kossack Brad Miller in the United States Senate. And all weekend, Blue South and I have been asking for the small amount of $5.08 to make it happen. If you help make it happen, I swear this will be the last Draft Brad diary for a long time.

Beverly Perdue

just lost me. Today's N & O says Carolyn Grant is a host for a fundraiser for Perdue this week. You all know that history. She was just campaigning for the vermin a week ago.

Say it Aint so Vern

While Vernon Robison is a difficult man to listen to or even look at, this article claiming that Robinson may be out of politics was disappointing:

"I've been continuously on the campaign trail since 2001. It's getting old," Robinson told The Associated Press. "You never say never, but I don't have any future political plans."

Why you might ask would I want this guy still around. Because he wastes millions of GOP dollars and is so easy to beat:

Robinson, 51, lost Tuesday's congressional bid -- his second try at the U.S. House in as many elections -- by nearly a 2-1 margin to 13th District incumbent Democratic Rep. Brad Miller.

Vermin wins!

Finally, Vermin Robinson has actually won something! Thanks for the heads-up to Ed Cone about Slate's Slimiest Ad of the Year Award. I always knew Vermin was an idiot. Now he's an award-winning idiot. Perfect.

Anyone have a link or clip of Vernon's "Evil" Commerical?

True story.

I just got to work and was restocking the kitchen for the workday. So I put on a lil SportsCenter and start my job. About 5 to 7 minutes in, a Vernon Robinson commerical comes on ESPN, and I noticed I haven't seen this one yet. So I watch it.

The commerical was about how he served in the Air Force, and so did his father as a Tuskgee. Okay cool. Fine ad, tell the voters who you are.

NC-13 Funny Money Not Funny

Vernon Robinson is apparently hemorrhaging money because, like a pyramid scheme, his fear-factor business model has to spend more to take in more. In pre-election reports he declared $274,932.99 cash on hand while Brad Miller reported $379,831.37 cash on hand.

Of 252 reportable transactions recorded by Robinson only 28 were from North Carolina and less than half of those from within District 13.

Of 210 reportable transactions recorded by Brad Miller 194 were from North Carolina and most of those from within District 13.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
