Time To Sacrifice, Over 5yrs. To Long Without!!
Submitted by jimstaro on Sun, 04/20/2008 - 8:53am.The first part of this post is especially directed towards those, the greater majority of this country, who do not have any Direct Connection to the Ongoing Occupation Theaters of Iraq and Afganistan, certainly not the Connection of those Serving, Mutiple Tours, and their Families and Close Friends !
The second part will be a Shoutout, and partial repost, with updated information, to All !
I received an e-mail from a local activist, and friend, and his group, with a great idea to not only Help the Returning Veterans, Help many aren't getting from the Government, You, but to Finally do some Personal Sacrificing!

Fort Drum: The Tip of a Tragic Iceberg
Submitted by Jason Forrester... on Thu, 02/14/2008 - 2:12am.What happens when you deploy troops who have seen high intensity combat time and time again with inadequate dwell time between tours? You see skyrocketing mental health issues.
After months of investigative work, talking to our troops and veterans, we released a report on the situation at Fort Drum in Watertown, New York. Since 9/11, the 2nd Brigade Combat Team has been deployed for more than forty months, more than any other brigade in the Army, and we are seeing what is nothing short of a cry for help from the men and women on the base; a cry we will answer here in North Carolina, which has seen thousands of its soldiers deployed time and time again from Fort Bragg.
Do You Know A Servicemember Who Needs Help Getting Treatment?
Submitted by Jason Forrester... on Thu, 02/07/2008 - 6:53pm.Around the United States, including here in North Carolina, we see that the military is overwhelmed as it tries to assist servicemembers.
Here at Veterans For America, where I am proud to be Director of Policy, we are determined to do something to help the men and women who have served us. Part of our efforts include our easy-to-use registry that will help us get you the help you need (or help for someone you know).
Sums It Up, Merry? Christmas
Submitted by jimstaro on Wed, 12/19/2007 - 6:47am.Their excuse for Walter Reed, "Oh it's closing in a couple of years!", as they were rubber stamping a War of Choice knowing Reed would be where many would pass through, was/is a Total Disgrace, another Deja-Vu Vietnam Era!!
It's simply, Powerfully, titled "The Disgraceful Treatment of our Veterans"

A majority disapprove of the president's handling of the war in Iraq and are more in line with the views of the general public.
Families with ties to the military, long a reliable source of support for wartime presidents, disapprove of President Bush and his handling of the war in Iraq, with a majority concluding the invasion was not worth it, a Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll has found.
A Diary Rescue, And A Needed Presidential Debate
Submitted by jimstaro on Sat, 11/24/2007 - 11:52am.Last night, 11-23-07, testvet6778 placed a Diary, New group wants a Presidential debate or debates on Iraq, Military and veterans issues, on supposedly the most Progressive Political Blog Site on the web, and it barely got a whimper, 35 comments and 15 recommends.
Now maybe it was because it was friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and better known as Black Friday, and folks were just tired from the all day holiday shopping, starting in the wee hours of that morning, the crush of packed stores and all those sucker deals can be overwelming.

We've gone through this All before and this Country just Shrugs and Ho-Hums and moves along!
