Wal-Mart's Latest Victim is the New York Times
Submitted by wuwm on Fri, 06/06/2008 - 3:27pm.Yesterday's New York Times posted a misleading article that uses the relationship between SEIU President Andy Stern and Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott as evidence of a "slowing down" of the Wal-Mart campaigns. (NYT registration required-- it's also re-posted at
HuffPo.)
While we cannot speak for Wal-Mart Watch, everyone should know WakeUpWalMart.com has NO intention of letting Wal-Mart off the hook. None. Zero. Zilch.

North Carolina 1, Wal-Mart 0!!!
Submitted by PiercesBBQ on Fri, 02/08/2008 - 4:48pm.Great news. Just read on the Wake Up Wal-Mart blog that after a six year battle, the residents of Union County have successfully deflected the attempts by Wal-Mart to build a new supercenter.
Is North Carolina beating Wal-Mart?
Submitted by PiercesBBQ on Fri, 11/30/2007 - 10:10am.As some of you may know, Wal-Mart is trying to sneak its way out of paying $30 million in North Carolina taxes. Well, taxpayers won a small (but important) victory yesterday when a Wake County judge ruled that Wal-Mart had to make public thousands of pages of documents. That means internal memos and strategy papers will come out of the shadows. (More after the jump)

Michelle Obama and WAL-MART
Submitted by truthteller2007 on Wed, 07/04/2007 - 5:37pm.There are many reasons to oppose Obama, whose paltry legislative record disqualifies him for the Presidency. That he would cite state legislative experience during a Presidential campaign as a qualification already reveals to this voter how underprepared he is for the Presidency.

Our Senators vote with Wal-Mart--and against port security
Submitted by Christian Dem in NC on Fri, 03/02/2007 - 7:57pm.Would Liddy Dole and Richard Burr go on a flight out of Charlotte/Douglas or RDU if only 5% of the passengers had been screened? Not likely. So why in the world would they vote to continue allowing only
Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl joined other Senate Republicans, a few Democrats and the business lobby in defeating a plan that would have required security scans of all imports at U.S. ports.
Business groups opposed a proposal favored by New York Sen. Charles Schumer that would have a required all shipping containers coming into U.S. ports be scanned.
Democrats favoring the bill said it would help protect against dangerous and hazardous materials being shipped into the U.S. by terrorists, and would improve port security.
