Thank you BlueNC!

First off, I want to congratulate Senator Walter Dalton on a race well-fought and well-won. I hope everyone here will join me in supporting Walter and all of our great Democratic candidates with the energy and determination I've come to associate with this community.

That's why I also want to congratulate BlueNC today. This site has provided a terrific forum for serious discussion of substantive issues this election season, and has served to energize progressives across our state. Even if your candidate didn't win yesterday, you all played a role in helping to get more Dems to the polls -- and informing them before they got there. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in a live blog and many spirited discussions here. Thank you.

I look forward to remaining an active member of BlueNC. The two things I enjoyed most about this campaign was seeing our great state -- who needs a subscription to "Our State" magazine when you can see North Carolina's most scenic views through the windshield? -- and meeting so many great people, including the bloggers here.

I'm not one to gather up his marbles and leave. I plan to keep working on the issues I raised in my campaign, and to support our Democratic candidates in any way I can. We have a fight ahead of us, but I know it is one we can win.

Thank you again for all the hard work you do to make North Carolina an even better place.

With best wishes, I am sincerely,

Pat

I wish you the best. I hope your voice spreads.

----insert witty remark here----coming soon----

I am so glad to have met you and your family, Pat

I meant it when I posted before that NC has found a true progressive, populist leader in you. Please use the voice you've been given to lead within the party. I'm glad you won't take your marbles and go home - I look forward to seeing you at various NC events, and seeing your name on a ballot again.

You're a class act, Pat.

I hope you'll stay involved with us here as we try to take BlueNC to the next level of relevance and impact. We're finding our way along, and it would be wonderful to have your reasoned voice as part of the ongoing conversation.

Thank you for all you do.

Thank you Pat

Thanks for running

Remarkable, remarkable guy.

This picture says it for me; Pat is one of the most genuine people I met during this campaign.

Compare that picture

to that scary-assed picture of our Vice-President that is in the ad running on the right of the page, and you see the differences in our Parties without any words.

Thanks for letting us get to know you, Pat

It's been our honor and pleasure. Like many others here, I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing you active in the state and continuing to hear your voice for local governments and the little guy for a long time to come.

You're great.

I know Canton loves you, but we'd also be so happy to have you represent North Carolinians in other ways. I hope you continue on with your political career.

It was a pleasure to meet you

and I look forward to supporting you through many campaigns ahead.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Please

Please, Pat, run again for another statewide office at some point in the future.

I was at a Person County at which you spoke. I was stunned and impressed that you had driven 4 hours (and 8 minutes, if I remember correctly) to be at that event, only to turn around after and drive back. I hadn't heard much about you at that point but was very impressed at your crazy willingness to drive that far and at the dedication and values that came through in your speech that night.

Thank you for running. Please keep sticking your neck out.

It's a darned shame you didn't win.

This libertarian Republican would have voted for you in a heartbeat over Bob Pittenger.

I second James' comments!

You are a class act Pat and I feel fortunate that I was able to be a small part of the campaign here in Southern Wake county. I wish you and Sherry some much needed down time as I know you were busy criss crossing the state for the majority of the campaign. We will be here to support you in any future runs!

Thanks, LoftT. This is hilarious.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
