His early remarks were so tepid that I wondered whether he had been wakened suddenly and hadn't collected his thoughts. Pearce and Sinsheimer were growling and the GOP was about to have a big ole party of it (actually, I suppose they will anyway), but the Speaker did stand up and he did the right thing.

I sure wish Thomas Wright would.
