Thomas Wright Hearing
Submitted by Brunette on Wed, 01/09/2008 - 3:12pm
Wright is not in attendance, nor has he sent a representative to stand in for him there. The Committee is proceeding quickly, and the whole thing is sad to hear.

or however that's spelled....
I forgot to listen in. Just too many other things to do. Would love an update if you're up to it.
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.
It's still on
I screwed up the blog post, which was supposed to contain this link: www.StateGovernmentRadio.com.
So far, they've unanimously found probable cause on two counts. Dome is updating pretty quickly.

Unanimous now on four counts
And they're working on five. The legislative radio feed keeps blipping out -- I don't know what causes it, but it has always done this (very frustrating when the body -- whether House or Senate-- is deliberating and someone stands up to say something, the dang thing blinks out, and when it comes back on, every one is either laughing or clapping, or muttering in disapproval.)

It's a good thing I flipped the other day...
Now I can say, "Oh, I've known he was bad for a long time. Long time."
:)
Unanimous on all 8 counts
It's ugly stuff, hearing it all laid out. And it's so danged cut and dried, too. They could be working with a higher standard of proof and they'd still be rolling along pretty fast, it seems. Yet they're being very meticulous about phrasing, etc . . . Nothing sloppy -- by what I can hear -- about their process.

This guy is gonna get ejected
All these counts of unethical conduct -- and six felonies pending. I don't think anyone can settle for admonishment or censure.
On Feb. 11th, the committee will meet again and make a recommendation to the full house. I think.

And as for that state employee
who agreed to write the fraudulent letter, I really think he should be prosecuted. It would help other state employees resist pressures imposed upon them by legislators to do things they shouldn't lawfully be doing. Such pressure is a fact of life in state government, but unless there's some kind of pushback, it will go on.
