I had to laugh when I checked Bob Orr's blog today and found him whining about the mean old pollsters at Public Policy Polling. Orr thinks the fact that PPP is owned by a wealthy Democrat casts a shadow over the organization's credibility. He also points out that Carter Wrenn, a notorious right-wing hit-man, has questioned the reliability of PPP's polling. Then Orr goes on to complain that the corporate media lap it all up like it's nobody's business.

The irony of Orr's complaint is quite nearly breath-taking. This from a man who worked for years as one of Art Pope's henchmen, a wealthy Republican who spends upwards of $4 million a year sliming North Carolina new media with enough half-assed polling to gag a boa constrictor.

Take look at Blog Orr and you'll find a post that isn't pretty at any level, as he well observes in his closing comment:

So having said all this I'll confess that it's late, I'm tired, and it's a full moon but somebody had to say. So check this entry for typos, call up Tom Jensen for a comment and don't pay much attention to the real issues facing the state.

What goes around comes around, Mr. Orr.

I was most disappointed in

I was most disappointed in Mr. Orr's response because when he asked me to last week, I met with him in good faith, explained to him how we do things, and came back and wrote a post on our blog outlining his thoughts on the political landscape.

For him to come back a week later and not only attack us but make all sorts of petty comments about my age was just really disappointing from someone who I thought was classier than that.

Here is our response to Mr. Orr's attack.

Same thoughts

Plus whining doesn't strike me as very governor-like.

It's got to be frustrating not getting the attention he wants. He's smart, but he's chosen to operate in a party that devalues intellect. Bad move.

PS Yes, his commentary about your age was just plain stupid.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
