Two awesome women

I am happy to report the completion of a most amazing event here in Chapel Hill, where two strong female governors knocked the socks off a very hot crowd! Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, and Governor Janet Napolitano were both on hand for a fundraiser that blew the doors off our expectations for attendance.

Most exciting for me is that my daughter got to see what's possible for women in this great country, and to feel the energy building to bring an end to the Republican Reign of Error.

Both governors were great. They spoke briefly and then answer a dozen questions from the eager crowd. They spoke candidly about the amazing discipline and focus of the Obama campaign. In response to my question about vice presidential candidates, Governor Sebelius said she had great confidence in Senator Obama's ability to settle on a running mate.

I do too.

These are the faces of the future. Very exciting.

KANSAS!

Governor Sebelius is the second greatest person to come out of Kansas, the first being myself of course.

Ha!

She truly was excellent. I can see why she's been able to win twice in a very red state. Wish you could have been here!

Great thing! Glad you could do it!

From what I heard, both are amazing women. Apparently the Q & A section was the highlight.

It was.

They took question after question even though it was scorching outside - and they were both standing in the sun on the back deck. A slight breeze kicked up right at the end, but other than that, it was hot, hot, hot.

And they were truly wonderful.

Both were great. Why isn't Napolitano a possible VP?

I liked Gov. Sebelius just fine. But I really liked Gov. Napolitano. She was so quick at giving responses that were both right on and funny. In any case, if women like them can have a high profile role in the Obama campaign it will do nothing but help.

Great event. Thanks for hosting.

She may be for all we know

I really did like her a lot, too. Smart, quick, down to earth. What a treat!

Both were excellent

Governor Napolitano was a last minute (and unexpected) addition!

Both governors (and many more) are in town for the Governor's Educational Summit, hosted by the James B. Hunt, Jr. Institute for Educational Leadership and Policy.

James, it was a great event! Thanks to you and Jane for giving me a legitimate reason to be standing outside in the heat.

It was great to see both you and Graig and Linda

Thanks for coming!

Both Governors were wonderful.

They were a pretty good speaking team, as well.

Both of these strong women need to be out front and center in the Democratic Party. I wish I had taken notes to give you all a full report, but I was just too busy being a little school girlish.

Either one of them would make fine Vice Presidential candidates.

Obama was in Raleigh & Sebelius in Chapel Hill Today

Do any of our intrepid reporters have any news on Obama and Sebelius meeting here? I wondered why Obama decided to come here today for a campaign stop. I suspect that campaign stop was cover for a meeting with Sebelius.

I don't think they met

I could be wrong, but from what I can tell of their respective schedules, it would have been almost impossible for them to meet.

You never know, but I don't think it happened.

Cool!

Glad to hear it was a success.

Was it a fundraiser for Obama?

It was for Obama

People were really excited to meet the two governors!

Excellent!

I don't know how you do it all, James but we are glad you do.
