Vernon Robinson Brings Ron Paul to Duke Friday! Damn!

http://www.vernonrobinson.com/lists/lt.php?id=YxoBVwdVA1waBgYfAAsIDQw%3D

The 6:30 PM event will be held at Duke’s Reynolds Theater (in the
Bryan Student Center), which accommodates about 600 people. Parking is
easy, as there is a parking deck adjacent to the student center and
theater. This promises to be a very special event, because Dr. Paul is
a graduate of the Duke Medical School.

Tickets for the Duke event can be picked up for free from the
Reynolds Theater box office in the Bryan Student Center. Reserving
online will guarantee a seat for those unable to pick up tickets in
person beforehand. Online reserved tickets cost $3 dollars since the
university box office charges for processing electronic ticketing. No
portion of this money goes to Dr. Paul.

See the following weblink for Duke Reynolds theater ticket
reservations, and click the icon that reads “All Events” to see
the listing for Dr. Paul’s talk. This webpage also has a link to a
campus map, at the top right hand corner. Look for the Bryan Center
building because Reynolds Theater is inside the Bryan Student Center.

This website will give you traveling directions to the Duke venue:

Please note that these events occur during finals week at both UNC-CH
and Duke, and officials at both campuses have asked that we respect
their need for quiet and order during this time. We are working to
arrange a location (likely between UNC-CH and Duke) for public
displays of affection for Dr. Paul and his message of hope. Details
will be forthcoming as available.

Don’t miss this chance to hear Dr. Paul in person … Hope to see
you all there!

Outmaneuvered by raucous Ron Paul supporters

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Outmaneuvered by raucous Ron Paul supporters, Nevada Republican Party leaders abruptly shut down their state convention and now must resume the event to complete a list of 31 delegates to the GOP national convention.

Outnumbered supporters of expected Republican presidential nominee John McCain faced off Saturday against well-organized Paul supporters. A large share of the more than 1,300 state convention delegates enabled Paul supporters to get a rule change positioning them for more national convention delegate slots than expected.

"I've seen factions walk out. I've never seen a party walk out," said Jeff Greenspan, regional coordinator for the Paul campaign.

Delegates cheered earlier in the day as former presidential hopeful Mitt Romney urged support for McCain. Later, though, Paul got even louder applause as he delivered his message of individual freedom and fiscal responsibility.

State Sen. Bob Beers, the convention chairman, was booed loudly as he called for a recess Saturday evening. He said that the party's rental contract for a big meeting room at a Reno hotel-casino had expired and there was too much work left to complete.

State GOP Chairwoman Sue Lowden said the rules change wasn't anticipated. She denied any anti-Paul bias, saying expected slates of national delegates were prepared through a fair and open process by the convention's nominations committee and the party thought the convention would accept them.

Dear Champions of Liberty coming to see Ron Paul at UNC on May 2, I am absolutely floored right now. You see, when we put together this event, we thought that we would be lucky to get 200, maybe 300, people to show up, hence why I booked the largest lecture hall on campus, Carroll Hall, with a capacity of 425. That capacity filled in RSVPs in less than 3 days. We now currently have 932 people RSVPed to come see Ron. That is absolutely amazing news! Amazing, both because of the number of people and because of the amazing effort I am going to have to pull off in order to get a venue that will hold this many people. As I already set a limit of 1,000 people for the event, I have today raised this limit to 1,400 people. But don't let limits deter you: come as you may! In any event, please be checking your emails every night this week. I will be sending another email soon detailing where the event will be moved to on campus and probably another to go over more event details. Thank you to everyone who is committing your time, energy, and money to coming to see Ron. This is going to be an amazing event: I can just feel it! BJ Called Ron Paul Jr! Wants big bucks!!!!!!!

Hello all, I have just been informed of an exciting opportunity for all of you Ron Paul Revolutionaries. Dr. Paul has endorsed Dr. B.J. Lawson, a Republican Candidate for U.S. Congress in North Carolina District 4, writing: "I am pleased to endorse BJ Lawson for the Republican Nomination for US Congress in the 4th District of North Carolina. BJ impresses me as somebody who has a wide array of knowledge on the issues that face our country. As a physician, he knows full well the details of health care policy and as somebody dedicated to limited constitutional government, he is exactly the kind of person I hope to see join me in Congress next year." Before the rally on Friday, Dr. Paul will be hosting a private fundraising lunch for B.J.'s campaign. Due to the hectic nature of campaign, which both B.J. and Dr. Paul have faced this year, the event will be a low-key, exclusive, and intimate event, with only 15 slots available. (As of this email, one has been taken.) With a $2,000 donation to B.J.'s campaign, you will be able to reserve one of these slots an have lunch with both Dr. Paul and Dr. Lawson, who has been called "Ron Paul, Jr." by his primary opponent. It is a steep price to pay, I know, but considering this exciting opportunity to have a private lunch and conversation with the primary advocate of liberty in American politics, this is price that is fully worth it and will go to getting Dr. Paul some help in Congress. To reserve a slot, donate at this link: https://www.lawsonforcongress.com/donate/ In the "referral/event information," enter "RPLunch" as the Project Code. If you are unable to make the lunch, please send a donation of whatever amount you wish. The campaign ran an internal poll over the weekend, and we are currently ahead of our primary opponent. However, we found a very large number of undecideds, so there is little room for comfort. The campaign has a media blitz planned for the days before the primary, and they need to raise $30,000 by Friday. Every little bit helps. If everyone RSVPed to come to the UNC rally gave just $25 dollars, then the necessary amount would be met. Please inform all of your guests about the possibility to eat lunch with Ron Paul, about B.J.'s campaign, and about the fundraising drive for this last push before Primary Day on May 6. Ron Paul Here? No Here? No over there? Where? Huh? Here Man!

Hey everyone, I want to go ahead and give you guys an update. I have been in contact with the people at Carmichael Auditorium (aka, the Women's Basketball Stadium, and formerly the Men's Basketball Stadium), and Carmichael is available. I have come to a verbal agreement with them, but there are some details that need to be worked out and some approvals that need to be made by the campaign and others. Hopefully, we will have everything finalized tomorrow. However, one thing I will go ahead and throw out there is that we may make a small charge of admission at the door. Small, as in $3 to $5. The reason is that there is a use fee for Carmichael, and the campaign must have any expenditure over $2000 approved. This probably won't be a problem, but we want to move this along quickly, so if you guys could pay $3 or so at the door to help cover the cost, that would be fantastic. I will keep you posted. If we get Carmichael, it will, quite simply, be unbelievable. Just think: on the floor where Michael Jordan played college basketball, the Michael Jordan of liberty will be delivering his great message. You will be amazed: it is truly a venue to be awed. Ron Paul to play Michael Jordan at Carmichael Friday for sure!

Change of Location‏
From: UNC-CH Students for Ron Paul (contact@eventbrite.com)

Hey Guys, It's official: the rally will now be held in Carmichael Auditorium at Carolina. Carmichael is a legendary venue. For those of you who aren't college basketball fans, it is currently the Carolina women's basketball stadium and formerly the men's basketball stadium. Michael Jordan played his college basketball career there. When you step in the building, you get goosebumps. There will be no admission charge. The fees for the event will be paid for by the campaign. Here are directions to Carmichael Auditorium from various routes: http://tarheelblue.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/110900aaa.html I have spoken to the Parking Office. They have agreed to make Ram's Head deck available. The bad news is that Ram's Head is a pay deck, so there will be a fee for parking. (We can't do anything about this.) Another parking option will be to park at the Friday Center on Highway 54, which is about 2 miles from the University, and ride a bus to campus. (In fact, I believe the bus will stop right in front of, if not just a stop light away, from Carmichael.) Here's a map to get an idea of where Ram's Head is: http://www.dps.unc.edu/maps/campus/0708campus4.gif If you look in the lower left around orange markings S8 and RD, you will see a yellow highlighted box. That is the Ram's Head parking deck. Once you get to South Rd (which you'll become acquainted with in the directions to the University), you can get there a number of ways. You can turn on Stadium Drive heading south on the map, make a right turn at the end, and the parking deck will be on your right. You can also turn on Country Club Rd heading south, and this will give you a straight shot to the deck, which will be on your right. Here's information about the Friday Center Park and Ride: http://townhall.townofchapelhill.org/transit/routes/fcx_weekday.html You will take the FCX route, Westbound. The first stop from the Friday Center will be your stop, which will be Student Stores at South Road. Here's a map to the Friday Center from 54: http://townhall.townofchapelhill.org/transit/routes/fcx_weekday.html Finally, here's a map of campus, which may be a clearer read: http://www.maps.unc.edu/CampusMaps/PdfMaps/CampusMapIndexed2005_11x17.pd... Hope to see you all there. This is going to be an AMAZING event!

One last thing....‏
From: UNC-CH Students for Ron Paul (contact@eventbrite.com)

Doors are going to open for admission at around 2:30 PM. Festivities will be starting around 3:00-3:10. Ron will be on to speak circa-3:30.

Doh! My bad!‏

Ok, so the Friday Center lot requires a permit before 5:00, so that option is out. Damn me

Thanks for posting all of my emails on here.

That really helps a lot.

Just curious... how did you get access to them? I assume you won't be coming to the event.

And Vernon, as far as I can tell, hasn't had much role in Ron coming here. I haven't spoken to him at all, and I have yet to see him CCed on an email.

Report on the Paul and BJ show today

My next door neighbor and I attended the Paul event at UNC. About 1600 Ron Paul fans show up. Most were lower middle young families with their children which shows the appeal the Paul campaign reach in this state. In fact, you could consider them blue collar democrats from the old days. The speaking system was terrible at the start and my neighbor and I almost left thinking this was a Mexican political race from the sputting and cutting out and loud noise from the Arena speakers. Finally, some idiot fiqure out that the Speakers had a balance button for left to right and finally turn the speakers toward the crowd. I believe the young man who started the show was Paige, the dude who visits here to promote Paul and BJ. I have no idea what he said and neither did the crowd for 15 minutes telling him they couldn't understand what the f### he was saying. [reminded me of that scene in Airplane where nobody could get their name right with the noise in the cockpit] After much hollering at him and some moving around, he presented a dude name Eric Smith who is running for State School Super as a republican. Frankly Mr Smith makes John McCain a normal sane human being after listening to Mr Smith. Mr Smith no doubt is a escape lunatic who should be shot on sight or wrap in a hundred year straight jacket from Iraq and waterboard for good luck.

BJ was next and did a nice little speech on free markets and why he would stomp the democrat [ Congressman Price] in the fall. I like BJ, but he is a lost little boy in a big pond. His competitor [ the republican] is a craze fundentalist Korea preacher who makes Eric Smith a normal sane human being like McCain.

BJ than presented Ron Paul who gave his standard campaign speech with much cheering from the fans. Somehow this campaign reminds me of the Children Crusade during the early middle ages. Other than that, it was nice and my neighbor said that he like it, but somebody should tell them it is over. By the way, I informed Mr Smith as I was leaving that I would straight out his crooked neck and head by ripping it off and heal it with natural born spring water from my body should he ever call my wife looney like the Republicans did the next time. Mr Smith than headed to the restrooms to change his shorts after this brief encounter payback at a political rally.

Ron Paul predicts a President Obama come January! RealitySets In

Republican Ron Paul predicts a President Obama come January

Rep. Ron Paul, the House member from Texas who technically remains in the race for the Republican Party's presidential nomination against Sen. John McCain, predicts that Democratic Sen. Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States.

According to the campus newspaper of Maryland's Goucher College, the 72-year-old Paul made the surprising statement during campaign remarks Thursday at a school presidential forum.

The newspaper report said the auditorium was overflowing with students and parents, who interrupted the congressman with applause nearly two dozen times during his speech.

Paul was very successful in political fundraising during the past year, amassing more than $34 million, more than twice the amount collected by more prominent candidates such as ex-Gov. Mike Huckabee.

But Paul, whose views often run counter to standard Republican policies, had very disapppointing showings in party primary elections, with a couple of second-place caucus results but mainly third-, fourth- and fifth-place finishes in primaries. At one point in New Hampshire,...

...Fox News even excluded him from a nationally-televised GOP debate as politically irrelevant.

Paul has absolutely no chance of turning his handful of delegates into an upset over McCain, who already has sufficient votes to capture the nomination in Minneapolis-St. Paul come September. But he may hope to disrupt the candidate's coronation with platform or floor fights.

But despite the adverse numbers and his professed belief that a Democrat is destined to win on Nov. 4, Paul has continued to campaign sporadically, often on college campuses where he receives large crowds and enthusiastic responses to his message of drastically smaller government and an end to foreign military involvement.

His dedicated followers have scored some recent successes at county GOP conventions that his partisans hope will boost the number of delegates pledged to Paul at the national convention.

Paul, a former ob-gyn who is unopposed for his 11th House term in November, was the lone Republican presidential candidate to oppose the Iraq war and, as a result, refuses to endorse McCain, a strong proponent of finishing that job without a precipitous withdrawal.

As reported in The Ticket, Paul is also traveling to promote his new book, which was released this week and, propelled by the eager purchases of his dedicated followers, immediately soared to No. 1 on the Amazon.com bestseller list.

According to the Goucher paper, The Quindecim, besides his unexpected Obama prediction, in his nearly 40 minutes of remarks Paul touched on his standard strict constitutionalist positions, advocating much less federal involvement in citizens' lives. Many of the students were apparently more curious than they were devoted Paulunteers.

"I told my mom I was coming to see him," said Lindsey Rich, a senior international relations major, "and she was like 'Oh my God, that's the lunatic fringe!' "

Log Cabin Republicans Endorse BJ Lawson in 4th District GOP Congressional Race

In the race to see who gets the opportunity to take on Congressman David Price (D-NC, 4th), BJ Lawson has received an endorsement from the Log Cabin Republicans. Log Cabin Republicans are a group of gay Republicans that believe President Lincoln was homosexual. Their politics vary from the very conservative to the liberal, based on individual beliefs.

Your blogger was copied on the mean-spirited e-mail to Augustus Cho, below:

From: Log Cabin Republicans of North Carolina

Dear Augustus Cho:

Did you forget something?

Details? Details?

Hate to break it to you, but that is what Washington is all about.

While you were confusing having unquestioned patriotic hubris with true loyalty while downing martinis at a Seoul Korea bar in one of your recent blog postings, the Log Cabin Republicans of North Carolina were reading B. J. Lawson's thoughtful writings.

Though some of us at Log Cabin Republicans of N.C. like you have been in bars in our time, we certainly don't condone this type of behavior.

So, we're voting for LAWSON.

JOIN US AT:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LCRNorthCarolina/

EDITOR'S NOTE: Your blogger is not involved in this contest, nor any congressional race. KCC thinks there is a hint of racism here, referring to South Korean bars and ugliness by implying that Cho is a heavy drinker. We didn't think a group of gay Republicans, who have their own battles to fight for acceptance, would stoop so low.

We do understand why they would endorse BJ over Augustus. As a closeted Libertarian, who has been a registered Republican all his adult life, BJ probably has a more "live and let live" approach to gay issues. However, your blogger has warned in the past that followers of former Presidential candidate, Ron Paul, are trying to take over the GOP.

Paul, who once ran for President as a Libertarian, leads a huge movement. Known by their detractors as "RonTards", they are trying to take over the Republican party at every level in an attempt to force Ron Paul's candidacy onto the floor at the National Republican Convention in July.

Conservatives have been lucky that these Ron Paul followers have not been educated in the mechanics of party politics at any level and they have found it difficult to earn delegate spots for the national GOP convention.

These slots were up for grabs at the recent district conventions that were held across NC and the US. This, most certainly, will not be the case in the next national election cycle.

KCC is saddened by this attempt by Libertarians to take over our once Grand Old Party. These people had their own party. It failed, and now they are out to ruin the Republican Party, too. Do us all a favor, and hook up with the Democrats first.

OMG

My favorite political song. Ever. EVER.

And Helms begat Reagan...

Arguably, Ronald Reagan's Helms enabled win in the 1976 NC primary was all the encouragement he needed to try again in 1980, setting the stage for the Reagan Revolution and synergistic escapades like this one...

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here.
