Volunteer for Jim Neal!
Since starting his campaign for the United States Senate, Jim Neal has been learning from voters all over North Carolina by visiting churches, Democratic Party organizations, twenty colleges, and more than twice as many counties. He’s had dinner with state troopers at Bill’s truck stop on I-85, been stuck in traffic in Charlotte, and he can’t stop drinking sweet tea from Bojangles’. His grassroots campaign is reaching out to North Carolina like no Democrat ever has before, but he needs your help to win the May 6th primary.
2008 is the year that we can vote for what we what, not what we think we can get. 2008 will be the year North Carolina elects Jim Neal, but we can’t do it without you. Each week, we add volunteers to our campaign that grow the reach and impact of Jim’s message. This week, we need you to step up for Jim Neal. Why not become a volunteer on Jim’s campaign?
To volunteer, please call our campaign headquarters at (919) 544-1136, visit jimnealforsenate.com, or e-mail action@jimnealforsenate.com.
We need your hard work to put Jim’s ideas to work. A few of the possibilities are:
Canvassing: Successful campaigns are about direct voter contact. Canvassing is a great way to meet your neighbors and see how grassroots politics works through the most effective method of voter contact.
Phone-banking: Come in to the office or organize your friends at home – this is a great way for people who love to talk to uplift our campaign.
Administrative: Help staff the office to keep our well oiled operation working!
House Parties & Events: Hold a house party for Jim, or help us build events when Jim comes to your county!
Though volunteering is a fun way to meet people and get into the world of politics, people are volunteering for Jim because he’s the most exciting candidate for the United States Senate that North Carolina has seen in a long time. Whether he’s down East, on the Blue Ridge, or in his home town of Greensboro, Jim Neal talks to the people of our state about three fundamental concepts: Equality, Opportunity, and Fair Play. In spite of our differences, Jim knows that we have in common is stronger than what divides us. Jim thinks that the growing opportunities found in new jobs and better education should be available to everyone in our state, no matter where they live or who they are. When it comes to playing fair, Jim will vote differently than his opponent. He will not support the Bush policy of torture; he will not vote in favor of retroactive immunity for telecoms that spied on our communications; and he will not vote against raising the minimum wage.
It’s clear that we need Jim Neal in the Senate, and he needs your help now. Will you volunteer for Jim today?

Thanks!

My spouse is a precinct chair
And we just got in the mail a precinct chair packet from the Neal campaign. Did that go to every precinct in NC? If so, WOW. Congrats - it's brilliant.
Be the change you wish to see in the world. --Gandhi
Got one for my Johnston precinct.
I was very surprised. And VERY impressed. Never gotten a packet from any campaign before. Truly brilliant.
every job is valued in this campaign!
I have been a volunteer for awhile now, someone with no special skills - unless you count my old description of being a specialist in "psychological infrastructure"- just being a team player and trying to keep everyone looked after. It really is a joy to go into the campaign office. This is a small campaign and if you ever wondered what goes on then this is a great chance to see it up close. If you are in some little town, we NEED you. Jim Neal needs every vote, and volunteers make that happen. We have all been awed by the Obama campaign's ability to organize huge, well-trained teams everywhere in the country. Well, we need a smaller group of dedicated people, with even a little time each week, to make a tremendous difference in North Carolina.
I do NOT want to wake up in November and think of seeing Liddy Dole's Botoxed face representing North Carolina. There are changes to be made in DC, and it will take Senators and Congressional reps. with SPINE and strength of character to stand for the old rights we used to have. Every letter I address, every database I update, every moment I have to encourage the candidate(yeah, in this campaign, you get to actually SEE the candidate!) - I know it is valuable.
Maybe a bunch of you felt like that when Larry Kissell ran the first time - working for a real, honest, genuine person is refreshing, isn't it? And the fact that he lost by such a little - a heartbreaker, but really, it inspired a lot of candidates to stand up and take a chance.
So, I will just say that this is important to me because I did not adopt a little orphan baby boy from China and bring him here to have an administration run roughshod over his rights. When I was in high school(hint:the 60s) the FBI read my mail. I was innocent, and to look now at my computer and know that they might be doing the same again boils my blood. I want my Senator to listen to MY concerns. Not the corporations. How about you?
Please join us! Email me if you have any questions. Or Sam, or the campaign.
