Wake Dems Elect New Leadership

The Wake County Democratic Party held its annual convention this morning at Knightdale High School. The convention was heavily attended with 83 percent of organized precincts represented.

The big news out of the convention was the election of Doris Weaver as chair of the party. Doris defeated incumbnet chair Keith Karlsson by over 100 votes. The election for First Vice-Chair pitted party activists Blaise Strenn against John Burns. Strenn edged Burns for the First Vice-Chairmanship.

Uncontested races were held for second and third vice chairs with Wake County Young Democrat Executive Board Member Abeni El-Amin and Wake County Young Democrats Executive Director Patrick Buffkin winning by acclamation for the offices respectively. Anna Worley received the nod for another term as secretary and former candidate for county commissioner Rodger Koopman is the party's new treasurer.

Votes have yet to be counted for Wake County's representatives on the State Democratic Executive Committee.

Thanks for letting us know

Hopefully the Mecklenburg Dems will read this and get busy so our convention is more heavily attended and our party is more active.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Thanks for the report!

Any commentary of the people involved?
