Wal-Mart Cheating Us Out of Taxes

Hey all, I'm a newbie here at Blue NC. I usually blog North of the border at Raising Kaine. But I just wanted to you all about the lawsuit between the state of NC and Wal-Mart.

Evidently, Wal-Mart has devised some "creative" ways to get out of paying state taxes. In fact, they've try to skim a full $30 million off their tab.

Now I'm not a knee-jerk Wal-Mart hater, but when it comes to not paying your taxes, well that affects all of us. And why can't a company that is worth hundreds of billions pay its North Carolina tax bill? The rest of us do.

Looks like Roy Cooper is on the job!

Now if we could only find a state auditor willing to do some work; we'll probably have to wait for Beth Wood to clean up the mess.

I've been doing work with Wakeup Wal-Mart and they're very engaged. They're very active and are doing a lot to bring some of Wal-Mart ugly business practices out of the shadows. Definitely check out their blog.
