Walter Jones: Following God's Plan

There's been a lot of talk around here lately about religion, thanks in part to the marching madness in Raleigh on Monday. Those nice people want to amend the North Carolina Constitution to reflect their religious beliefs, which is pretty much the definition of a theocrat in my book.

And not being one to rest until Sunday, God jumped back into the news today, this time channeled through Walter Jones. An interview with Walter in The Hill is a fascinating read. Here's the juicy part.

While declining to identify which of “several” Democrats have approached him about switching parties, Jones said, as he has many times before, that he plans to stick with the GOP for now. “Obviously there were some Democrats when I was not given the ranking member status of Armed Services [who wanted] to chat with me,” he said, noting that Rep. Gene Taylor (D-Miss.) has said publicly that his party would support a swap.

“I [would] welcome him in the Democratic Caucus,” Taylor told CongressDaily in January.

Interesting, no?

Frankly, I've had a hard time understanding why Jones is still a Republican. Everything he's for is being mismanaged by his side of the aisle: fiscal responsibility, operational excellence, integrity, the Constitution, a strong defense.

Until I read this article:

“I’m guided by my faith. Quite frankly, I’m strong pro-life,” Jones said to explain his allegiance, noting that he didn’t believe the Democratic leadership was in line with him on such social issues. “I just take each day as it comes; I certainly think about where I will be a year or two, three years from now, but that’s God’s plan, not mine … I think at the present time, because of the pro- life issue primarily, I am where I need to be.

Walter Jones is following God's plan on "the pro-life issue." Which means if you don't agree with Walter Jones, you're not following God's plan.

This is the insanity of theocracy.

Answer me this.

Why would God tell Walter Jones to do one thing and tell you to do the exact opposite?

Because

ol' Yahweh's got such a wicked sense of humor.

Whose's Dat?

Why would God tell Walter Jones to do one thing and tell you to do the exact opposite?* A

Well the God of Peace told him to get the hell out of Iraq long before any other Democrat got the call with balls.

Don't worry A. Walter will get the call soon when my IPOD Speakers come in from Radio Shack. They are special order for beds with a late night alarm that has a very deep voice with lighting and thunder in the background.

I hope he doesnt switch

The purge of moderates like Lincoln Chafee is bad for our country, regardless of how good it is for our party. I do not believe Jones is as moderate as he would like us to believe, but he is better on the war than Lieberman, so that is something.

Are you some kind of atheist or something?

Walter Jones (You can't fool all the people all the time)

Walter Jones once said, I am told, that he would not remain in office more than twelve years. Later that changed.

Walter was a Democrat,...until the writing on the wall said the Country was leaning towards the Republicans...Then he became a Republican.

Shortly after the 9/11 tragedy and until very recently, Walter Jones was right on board with the President and the republican Party with "You are for us, or you are against us", accusing anyone who disagreed of being unpatriotic. He brought us freedom fries and he wrapped himself in the flag.

When the Iraq war starting going south and the country was tired of seeing our boys coming home in boxes, Walter was getting a new revelation and began distancing himself from the now unpopular President and his unpopular cause.

Suddenly the rumors are flying that Walter may now return to the Democratic Party. Just about the time when the Democrats are back in the good graces of the American People.

You can fool some of the people all the time, and you can fool all the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all of the time.....Or can you?

I sure hope not.

P.S. The powerful Flag of our country was never meant to wrap ourselves in. It was meant to fly.

THIS IS YOUR GOD

STOP RUNNING ABOUT TALKING A LOAD OF NONSENSE, AND DO NOT RUN FOR OFFICE.

DO NOT BECOME A DEMOCRAT, YOU'LL ONLY DIRTY UP THE PLACE.

IF YOU MUST CHANGE PARTIES, JOIN THE CONNECTICUT FOR LIEBERMAN PARTY.

DO NOT RUN FOR REELECTION, OR I WILL RAIN DOWN A PLAGUE OF HOMOSEXUALS ON YOUR FRONT LAWN.

SINCERELY,

YHWH

Congressman

Walter Jones is the point man for the NC Republican Delegation regarding the OLF.

All of them tell us they will take his lead. It is pathetically obvious none of them are secure enough to make a decision for themselves. All of our NC GOP are holding hands and waiting for God to speak to them through Walter. Who, by the way, reveres the sanctity of life so much that he willing to see innocent animals poisoned and die a slow painful death in return for big payola at Cherry Point.

Let's give Walter a big "H". Hypocrite!

Walter B. Jones, Jr.

is a Republican who can talk about switching so easily because he did it before. He switched. He used to be a Democrat. Then he lost an election as a D and switched to R to see if that would bring him better results. So, for Walter, being a Democrat again wouldn't be like cheating for him. It would be like coming home.

I have a feeling, though, that a switch for him now would take a life altering experience along the lines of a visit from the ghost of Sam Ervin. Or another Congressional election loss, whichever comes first. ;)

Jones for Senate

I think Jones who the GOP establishment passed over in 2002 and 2004 for
a US Senate run is not now looking at the Democrats who by the way have
a great chance to beat Dole but have no candidate.

Marshall Adame's picture

Jones for Senate?.....NOT!

The GOP passed over Jones for a reason. He can't be trusted to remain in the party. The winds of change move Walter where ever they blow. The GOP knows that. Walter is not trustworthy.
