What the heck does Robin Hayes actually do?

I've never understood exactly what Robin Hayes does in Congress to earn the $165,000 we pay him each year. For example, back in December, when the Party of Greed was still in the majority, he totally bombed on getting money for Kannapolis road improvements.

Kannapolis officials were expecting $1 million from the federal government for road improvements on Dale Earnhardt Boulevard and N.C. 3, but that earmark was not passed by the U.S. House before the end of the session in December, according to Congressman Robin Hayes' office.

So what has the good Congressman been doing instead of getting the job done for his constituents? The Charlotte Observer uncovers his hard work.

N.C. congressman Robin Hayes announced that the House passed legislation to honor NASCAR legend Benny Parsons. Hayes introduced the legislation Jan. 17 and spoke on the House Floor to honor Parsons for his excellence in racing and his great character. Parsons was born in Wilkes County on July 12, 1941. He won 21 races, including the 1975 Daytona 500, and was the first NASCAR driver to qualify at more than 200 mph. Parsons died Jan. 16 from complications from lung cancer.

And here I thought all Hayes did was propose legislation to name post offices.

When I think that this guy is drawing down hundreds of thousands of dollars in salary, it makes me steaming mad. And when I think that We the People of North Carolina could have sent Larry Kissell to Congress instead of Mr. Post Office, it makes me want to cry.

Very Nice

Just got the inside scoop on some other news about old Flipper. This will be a great intro to my piece that probably won't be ready until....oh...say....um....oh a bit later. Gotta go take care of dear sweet mum.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Well

At least his time is not being wasted. [/sarcasm]

You had me at

hello.

Any discussion about the complete waste of Congressional space that we call Flipper is a conversation I want in on.

It doesn't take a poli sci degree to figure out the only thing Flipper has accomplished in his years in office (aside from naming all those post offices) is successfully avoiding any responsibility.

Larry Kissell is MY Congressman

Don't Forget

He is instrumental at shoving his foot in his mouth, making this area look like a bunch of raving "crusaders" and let's not forget imbeciles. The man has been in Congress for how long and he can't figure out how to punch the "YES" or "NO" button for voting on a bill? I think it's an insult to TeeVee dolphins everywhere to give him the nickname "Flipper" (however, it is tres appropriate) as dolphins are very intelligent creatures (unlike he who cannot vote). What an a**-hat.

Looking forward to your post Southern Dem.........

all apologies to TeeVee dolphins

Flipper is derived from the original Flip Floppin' Robin (or FFR). It just seems to roll off the tongue (or keypad) more easily, don't you think?

Don't forget the great deal he is getting

while he sold out the hard working people in his district

Why would anyone run against Larry Kissell?

I've heard from a very reliable source that there are at least 2 people thinking about running against Larry Kissell in a democratic primary. Can anyone explain to me why they would do that? My head hurts trying to make sense of this...

I wonder if

... it's kind of like sharks smelling blood in the water. Now that they see how vulnerable Hayes is (and rumors are swirling that Hayes may even retire) they are jockeying for position on the ticket.

Larry Kissell is MY Congressman

Hmmm,

maybe someone at the DCCC decided they "needed" to "recruit someone who can win"...because of course THEY didn't have a role at ALL in Larry Kissell's near-miss.

No

From what I hear Larry will have more support out of Washington next time. I know that at least one of these 2 challengers decided on his own to maybe run in the primary. He even called over to the DCCC, where he was told that Larry would have their support.
