From the Virginia Democratic Party:

Bob McDonnell: "Working women are detrimental to the family."

I don't have much to add. Election day in Virginia is Nov 3rd. My old colleagues at the NCDP who are familiar with Virginia are big fans of Creigh Deeds, even back when it looked like he didn't have much chance in the primary against Moran and McAuliffe.

Republican candidate, very important what he said and did in college.

President Obama, totally ok if he never releases his undergraduate transcript from Columbia.

McDonnell has said his views have changed since college, shouldn't we take him at his word?

They guy was 34 when he wrote the paper, not exactly an impressionable young student. And even though he has said his views have changed, he hasn't said how. He hasn't disavowed any of his mindless paternalism ... and he spent his whole time in the Virginia legislature pursuing exactly the agenda he laid out in the paper.

Your use of the "see that black guy, he did it too!" argument isn't very persuasive.

a) didn't know the guy was 34 when he wrote it, and b) why you gotta bring up Barack's race huh? All I'm sayin is that I definitely don't want anyone digging up my final paper in high school when I run for office. There's no telling what kind of craziness I put down on paper at five in the morning bc I waited until the last minute and I had twenty pages to fill...

McDonnell brought up his thesis

It's not like some Democratic hatchet men raised the issue of McDonnell's thesis - McDonnell referenced it at a campaign stop.

Speaking to some group of fundamentalist Republicans McDonnell wanted to reassure them that he wouldn't let teh gay and the feminists get away with seeking equality, and he brought up his thesis as proof that he is just as bigoted as his most intolerant supporters.

After McDonnell brought it up, journalists looked into it and we're surprised by how misogynist McDonnell really is.
