What Would You Wish For?
Liisa Ogburn is a creative documentarian in Raleigh who also works at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke when she's not running and, running after her kids. Liisa writes:
I’ve been asking people questions ever since I was a child...
On April 12th, 2007, I asked 63 first graders at JY Joyner Elementary in Raleigh, NC,
“If you had one wish for the world, your family or yourself, what would it be?”
These are their responses:
Our Dreams: First Graders in North Carolina
Liisa writes about herself:
A Messy, But Good Life
I have a 2-, a 4- and a 7-year old, an inventor-husband, a pretty absorbing and wonderful job, an old home in need of constant repair, too many volunteer commitments and an obsessive need to make documentary. As any working mother of young children will tell you, the only uninterrupted time to do it is before 7 am and after 10 pm. Why deprive oneself of sleep, of leisure, of romance? Perhaps it’s the need to answer some personal question? Perhaps it’s wanting to really connect with people? Or maybe it’s the joy of enabling someone to express something they needed to express? Whatever the case, it’s been a drive that’s been in me for some time. It’s just simply what I do.

That album was the soundtrack of my honeymoon. I have a copy of it in front of me right now. And will probably listen to it all day. His voice and music are magical.

Greg,
awesome. You made me sniffle like a little girl at work ... and reminded me 'why'. Out of the mouths of babes....
Thanks.
