When Republicans Think "Mountain"
When Republicans think "mountain," this is the picture that comes into their minds. Which is exactly what will happen to the Appalachian mountains given a new ruling being promoted by the Decider. So here's a question for Bob Orr, Bill Graham and Fred Smith: Do you support the Bush administration's position on mountain-top mining?

Don't expect North Carolina's political reporters to ask the question - or even notice that the Bush administration is once again assaulting our state's environment. They're too busy playing kissy face with the free-market fundamentalists who think it's just fine for companies to blow the hell out of mountains in pursuit of profits.

Having lived in West Virginia for 12 years...
... and having a father who was a coal miner, I can attest that strip mining was the worst ecological disaster to happen to West Virginia in its entire history.
Far worse than anything Celanse ever did to it.

Rest assured
FMFs will use the tragedy in Utah, Sago, and other mines around the world as justification for blowing the tops off of mountains to get at the coal. Better to do that then have people go underground. Great goddess forbid that we develop better, renewable energy sources.

Mountain-top coal mining _ [- omnibus thread -]
Please forgive me, I just had to do it! What?!!, you say. I filched Anglico's blog and did a copy&paste to Chimpster Nation over at the SC.com pages. Then I added my handy work and other Merry Chimpsters piled on and a new thread has come to life through the power of the World Wide Web, or if you live in Alaska it's a magic tubes thing -

Hey Anglico ,
Thank you for the linky thing and your permission to continue filching your stuff in the future.
Also, this is an open invitation for all the good folks here @blueNC to use the magic tubes and travel on over to the Chimpster Nation @SC.com, you'll find us just on the other side of center left in the WWW -

Bob Orr
I have to hand it to Bob Orr: he takes this stuff seriously. Mr. Orr contacted me to say he was looking into the issue of mountain-top removal to understand its relevance for North Carolina. I applaud that promise.
Despite his past relationship with Art Pope, Bob Orr is easily the most thoughtful and intelligent of the three Republican candidates, which is no doubt alienating the lunatic fringe that will dominate the NCGOP primary turn-out. In my view, he would be the strongest candidate against either Perdue or Moore.
But that's neither here nor there. The Republican primary will be nothing but an anti-tax slug-fest with the winner being the person who purports to hate government, gays and immigrants the most.
I am voting Republican in the Gov primary, because of my IQ is70

I doubt that! He will be clobber....once he opens his mouth with his drab personality....

Forget the hate govenment stuff.....it will be all about Mexicans driving drunk and killing Americans....And Jesus hates butt f##### perverts......The average IQ of the republican primary voters is about 75 or just 5 points over the retarded standard of 70.
