Where's Liddy?

Big news in Cherokee.

Dole representative visits county

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole today announced that a representative from her Western office will hold traveling office hours in Cherokee County on Thursday, June 14th, 2007. Constituents can use the office hours to hold individual meetings to discuss their concerns with federal agencies, case work, or issues pending before Congress. Appointments are not necessary, but can be scheduled by calling 828-698- 3747.

I know a couple of folks who have been to these "traveling office hours." Dole's mouthpiece isn't allowed to answer any questions about anything, which is exactly what you'd expect from someone representing Liddy Dole, who also never answers any questions about anything. But it's perfectly understandable that Liddy wouldn't show up herself. I doubt she could find Cherokee if her life depended on it.

I have another post

about Brad for the morning. The differences between the two are amazing.

When will we get a challenger for her?

What have YOU done today to make the world a better place?

Cherokee County or Cherokee Town?

The article says Cherokee County (ie, Murphy most likely), but the wording of your post almost sounds like you're talking Cherokee the town (which is on the Swain/Jackson County line inside the Cherokee Reservation).
Although you're probably right---Dole would probably not be able to find either.

Compare and Contrast

I posted about this trip to DC earlier this year. We experienced the very same thing from Dole's representative. The guy that met with us seemed like he was about 16, knew nothing about the issues we were there to talk about (early childhood education issues) even though we had made appointments a long time ahead of time. He couldn't answer our questions at all. He said he would pass our concerns along to Sen. Dole, but didn't take notes, so I doubt that he would be able to convey our

By way of contrast, during that same trip, Brad Miller's Chief of Staff (Mark?) talked with us for at least 20 minutes waiting until another vote was finished, until Brad could come up and meet with us. Mark knew as much or more about the national issues as we did - and wanted to know about the NC issues at the state level, explained where some of our talking points were wrong and how to fix them, and helped my colleague find a cheaper, faster way to get to the airport on her way out of DC.

Once Rep Miller arrived, you could tell he was exhausted, but then he talked with us for another 15 minutes or so, about our issues, about NC, and about BlueNC. After talking all day to the dark side, it was a joy to talk to the good guys.

I hope that Brad Miller decides to run against Elizabeth Dole for Senate in 2008. But if he doesn't - and simply runs for his seat in Congress again, all of NC will be well-served having him right where he is.

Go Brad.

that is very well said

There wont be anyone on this site upset with Brad deciding to stay in the House. He is the epitome of what we want our Representatives to be.

I would just like to see a decision soon, because it gets harder to beat her every day we wait.

Yes, his name is Mark

and he has been in DC a long time. He's from North Caroilna tho'.

He is fantastic.

Brad needs to hold on to him. Smart, efficient, focused - he's exactly the kind of person who should be staffing our elected officials.

Lost his hair.

He has lost his hair in five years he has worked for Brad. Hmmmm.

seriously?

maybe i should draft someone else..... ;D

I have a picture...

or I should say that my mother has a picture...of Brad with a beard. It was when he was in school in London. I think it is a cool picture. Jamie liked it. Jamie...on Brad's Raleigh staff.
