Who hates gays the most?
Any article that starts with an invocation of Ronald Reagan is guaranteed to be pretty much worthless, but this post by Jim Kouri on The Common Voice, is at least amusing. (The Common Voice appears to be a mirror site to The Conservative Voice). It's a front-row seat into Republican whining about who hates gays the most . . . Walter Jones or Joe McLaughlin.
During his brief time on this earth, President Ronald Reagan uttered dozens of memorable quotes. Arguably one of the most important Reagan quotations is, "Thou shall not speak ill of another Republican." Obviously, that commandment has not been heeded in recent years by many Republicans, especially those claiming to be conservatives.
A perfect example of this transgression against Reagan's commandment is the congressional race in North Carolina's 3rd District between Republican incumbent Walter Jones and challenger Joe McLaughlin, also a Republican.
Disagreements and one-ups-manship are expected in any political race, but several North Carolina conservatives are upset with the conduct of McLaughlin. One member of the NCGOP told this writer that "not a day goes by without Joe [McLaughlin] smearing Congressman Jones."
Talking on the condition of anonymity, he said, "If you're claiming to be a conservative, then be a conservative."
I'd actually love to meet one of these so-called "conservatives," because from all I can see, they are a fast-dying breed. But I digress. Go read the rest of the post for a creepy look what passes for political insight among the lunatic fringe.
On abortion, McLaughlin admits that he had a "moderate to liberal" view -- until his mother told him one day that she might not have decided to have him (the youngest of five by eight years) if she could have gotten an abortion. "I moved a few meters to the right then," he told a newspaper reporter.
I wonder what Joe's mama would say today, having raised a warmonger son who hates people because of their sexual orientation?
However, sources in Washington, DC tell The Conservative Voice that McLaughlin met with gay political consultant Chris Barron of the New Jersey-based CapSouth Consulting in the nation's capital. Barron is a leading advocate of gay rights and a former honcho with the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay-rights group. During their DC get-together, Barron escorted Joe McLaughlin to meetings with leaders in the gay-rights movement.
Prior to founding CapSouth Consulting, Chris served as the Log Cabin Republicans' Political Director. At Log Cabin, he directed the organization's lobbying and media relations. According to sources in Washington, McLaughlin met with these Barron contacts.
"What's a conservative doing meeting with gay-rights activists? And why the secrecy?" asks a NCGOP insider.
Any guesses as to who the NCGOP "insider" might be?
..........................
McLaughlin's website has a video filled with troop pandering that will turn your stomach. Thank goodness there's a great Democratic alternative to both McLaughlin and Jones in the third district. His name is Marshall Adame.

No doubt Weird Joe wants a meeting with Congressman Patty McHenry to discuss this matter in a closet, like all secret goat worshipers..... And the insider has been inside much closer than we could ever suspect about these strange boys........
-A-,

What have YOU done today to elect a Democrat?
In an email, Mr. McLaughlin claimed...
that the article is
and pointed me to his campaign website for information on his positions on issues.
He also denied meeting with any gay-rights advocates.

That uh... yeah. Poor moms. I wish you could have, too.
I guess it would be hard to seperate yourself
from that situation. However, what kind of a mother would say that to her child?? Jeebus. That stinks.

"Yeah, howdy. My mama was always telling me how worthless I was and then she'd cuff me and say she wished she'da had one of them there 'bortions."

In discussing this story you might also be interested in this story on "Gays Infiltrating the GOP" posted at the Conservative Voice on August 15th. They also talk about the political consultant group CapSouth, its owner and Joe McLaughlin... perhaps this is where the Common Voice story came from:
