Woo Hoo! We Did It! Two NC Candidates Made DFA All Star Finals
Big News! Both Roy Carter and Larry Kissell are in the finals of the Democracy for America Grassroots All Star Challenge. They are competing against each other and Nancy Skinner from Michigan. Her primary challenger placed in the top five.
If you're a long-time regular at BlueNC I don't have to remind you how little respect we were able to drum up for our Democratic congressional challengers in 2006. The two that received any attention - Heath Shuler and Larry Kissell were either too conservative (Shuler) or didn't have a chance (Kissell....yeah, right). Toward the end Roger Sharpe in NC-05 was getting noticed, but any bit of attention our NC candidates received came after fighting tooth and nail for it.
All that hard work has paid off. Not only did individual candidates prove themselves, but North Carolina Democrats showed we have some fight in us, North Carolina activists showed we know how to put boots on the ground and the North Carolina netroots showed we are a fearsome bunch. (heh...ok...I'm pushing it on the last one)
All of this worked for us and this time North Carolina had four Democratic challengers in the first round of voting. Last cycle I think Larry Kissell was the only one on the list. Let's work hard to make sure one of our Democrats wins the title. The rules are the same. One vote is allowed per email address. You have more than one email address then I guess you can vote more than once. It's your choice whether you split up your votes or give them all to Roy or Larry. Let's just work hard to make sure one of them wins.
Roy has a great post outlining why he should be the next DFA Grassroots All Star. Larry has a post celebrating the birth of social security posted here.
Both of these gentlemen deserve the recognition received by being finalists. They each received $2000 from DFA and will have their names listed on emails announcing their success to hundreds of thousands of potential donors. The overall winner will receive:
As you can see, this is well worth the effort, so let's work hard to make sure we bring this honor to either Roy Carter or Larry Kissell.

I have voted
my family is voting and we are supporting both Roy and Larry. I'm proud of all our NC Dems who were in the running.
$2000 can go a long way in a solid grassroots campaign like we have to run in districts like NC-05 and NC-08. I'm very, very happy for both campaigns.

You're absolutely right...

Roy Carter: A Candidates Promise
I love it.
Solid work, Frank. Expect to see some YouTube videos out of the 8th district soon. Not quite as "sexy" as Frank's. But yeah, I try.
Gosh Frank....why don't you just start
emailing me the embed codes. Love your work.

I like your work Frank.

Vote early, vote often.
Does anyone know if they have any filters on this thing?
