Youngest Member's 1 month anniversary....
Hello Blue NC!! This week marked my one month anniversary as your youngest member in the NC House. I have really learned a great deal, met amazing people and listened to a lot of debate in the last month. I serve on 7 standing committees and 1 select committee. I have realized that most of the work is accomplished in committees. Each committee has its' own personality and style. Some are well attended by the public and lobbyists and some are not. They are all so interesting. I have sponsored a wide variety of legislation. I hired an assistant within my first week. My legislative assistant is great and I am so lucky to have her! She has experience on the Senate side so she knows her stuff! She keeps me straight. The biggest challenge I have had is the issue of time. I am booked all day everyday including weekends. My day starts early and ends late. As time goes on, I know I'll get better with this issue. I do have to confess that I struggle finding time to blog! I hope you understand. I am truly enjoying my new role and I am so glad to be here!!!
I'm looking forward to Jefferson-Jackson Celebration tomorrow in Raleigh. It is always a good thing to be around NC Democrats!!!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

I know it's a lot to learn in a short period of time and it sounds like you have the energy to do it.
