I've commented before that Mike McIntyre is worthless.
Here's more proof...You might want to read this DKos diary for ALL the details READ IT HERE but here's the short version...
A Republican congressman, who has spent the better part of the past two years on a mission to ensure Jesus Christ has a place in all aspects of federal government, has introduced a resolution to designate a week every year to honor the nation's "rich spiritual, and religious history."
Theodore Roosevelt, our 26th President, spoke at the Sorbonne in Paris on April 23rd, 1910. The title of his speech was "Citizenship in a Republic" and the best known words of that address are:
Actually this was the punch line from a long ago joke diagnosing the problem of a beleaguered Toyota Salesperson with a unique sales-debilitating flatulence problem....But, absence from the gas pump is making my heart go Honda.
I would like everyone to read about HR 1955. I've copied this from a diary by OPOL on DKos. You need to read the whole thing...I've provided the link further below.
We just got home from a nice day with friends and family at Nan's parents (in their mid-eighties) home up in Penderlea. I cooked the bird and Nan made her special homemade cranberry sauce with orange zest and she made stuffing, pumpkin pie and so on...and up we went. Our children are in far flung places so we don't often get to spend holidays with them. On the way home we stopped to feed a neighbor's goats and dog and cats keeping a watchful eye for deer along the way.
When I was in Vietnam so many years ago (artillery) I sometimes wondered what I would do if I thought I was going to be captured. Stories of torture and atrocity were common place and I wondered whether or not I could withstand such things. It never came to that, but there were times I was pretty scared.
I've read the accounts of many who were captured and tortured. While I know the hope of returning to their loved ones and home sustained those brave soldiers, I also know somewhere in their minds they were also comforted and rebelliously sustained knowing they held the high moral ground and that their captors would someday be punished for their crimes.
After reading A's post on KOS and after reading Justing's post regarding Dole/Hagan/Neal...and more importantly, the comments, I started to wonder what it takes to get people upset enough to do something about the Democratic Party, it's leadership, and the Democrats we've elected who don't represent our interests.
Mike McIntyre voted for the Military Commissions Act of 2006...authorizing torture and the suspension of Habeas Corpus for "detainees" captured in Iraq and elsewhere. We all also know of at least one Canadian Citizen that was whisked away in an "extraordinary rendition" and held and tortured. Mike helped made this possible and legal. Now he's trying to hide from the facts rather than apologize. Read part of his letter below the fold.
Leslie H said it all today in her rant about Iraq and I'm not gonna go there. If I got started I'd never shut up. But, I'd like to tell you about a letter I got from my Congressman. I went ballistic! Please follow me below the fold for an example of how stupid these people think we are.
