89 Days to Victory: How you can help.

Blue NC readers:

You saw it in Connecticut on Tuesday—Democrats are energized. The November election will be a referendum on Bush's failed policies and Republicans clearly see the writing on the wall. Incumbents who appear to be too close to President Bush, or are seen as out of touch, have a higher risk of being swept up in the anti-incumbent wave.

In 89 days, we will send that message loud and clear. And I need your help.

As Party Chair, I have to do a lot of asking for money because getting out our message and getting out the vote costs a lot. I’m not going to ask you for money directly (although you’re welcome to send it :-) ). I’m asking you to open up your homes, have a party, have fun, get motivated, meet your neighbors and do it for a good cause.

Here comes “the ask”: On September 12th, Democrats across the State will gather at over 100 homes (we hope!) for NCDP House Parties.

Be a part of this by opening your home so that Democrats in your community can join this incredible grassroots movement. Each Democrat attending a House Party is recommended to bring a donation of $15. This contribution will help the State Party fund our get-out-the vote efforts this fall.

We can’t take this election for granted. Winning elections takes a unified effort from all Democrats. We cannot be successful without you.

This is your Party, and I want you to have a sense of ownership in it. We don’t have to find our funding solely among big contributors. Let’s flood the North Carolina Democratic Party with money from the grassroots. Sign up here and we’ll send you a manual to guide you step-by-step through the process of hosting your house party.

Republicans want to run North Carolina like they’re running Washington. We can’t let them.

It might sound like spin, but that’s part of my job, too. Spin works much better when you’re right, though. Thanks for reading and thanks for keeping the faith and showing the power of the netroots in NC!

Thanks for Your Help

Anglico ("if that's really your real name"),

Thanks for your support. We did this last year. It was the first time the State Party has done this. And I thought it was a tremendous success. (Of course, we want to improve upon it this year).

A lot of folks felt like we needed to have a fundraising event that grassroots activists could afford to attend. So, here it is!

Last year, we set up a conference call so that each House Party could call in and hear from Howard Dean, John Edwards, Richard Moore, Bev Perdue, and Roy Cooper. We'll do a similar conference call this year, with emphasis probably on the Congressional candidates.

So, anything y'all can do to help out would be appreciated.

Lance,

I tried to FP this and it broke something so I backed off. Hope you can help. Thanks.

Sorry . . . all those

Got it. Thanks, Jerry!

Done and done.

On September 12 I will be celebrating

14 years of marriage to my favorite Republican. (GAWD, I can't tell you how hard it is to say that...hehehe) I will also be taking my girls to their Tuedsay evening dance classes. Maybe I can prepare some refreshments and take them by the closest house party since I don't think I'll be able to make it to one myself.

Brilliant

You are brilliant.

What, a divorce?

My wife is about as liberal as I am, but even I know better than to take her to a political event for our anniversary. That would be like taking her to a professional conference for valentine's day! How are you two (Robert, Anglico) still married?

You're new...

wait until you have some kids under the belt. Is that condescending enough? : )

p.s.

i was saying she should talk HIM into giving HER the houseparty as a gift. THAT would be a good gift.

Granted, I'm sure there could be a trip involved afterwards to some remote location.

Ya'll are cracking me up....

I'm saving my favors for Kissell campaign events. He won't go with me, but he'll do the good dad thing while I go out and about. I figure he's grateful I don't ask him to go.

Are independents welcomed?

Will it cost less or more if an independent attends? That is, if an independent can attend.

Fund Raiser

There is a fund raiser for Ripley Rand in Cumberland County on that night. There will be lots of Dems there. Any ideas on how to combine the two?

SD, as important as this is, your marriage is more important. You do MORE than your share anyway. Don't feel guilty for one second.

DL parties

Try to get the local Drinking Liberally groups to get in on this.
Wouldn't this kinda thing sound like just the kind of party they'd enjoy (as long as the refreshments are good)?? :-) lol.
