BlueNC Housekeeping [UPDATE]

It's been a while since we made major changes here at BlueNC and we've sorely neglected some small stuff. Today, I finally fixed the search feature. Both the tab up top and the link on the left sidebar open a form that will allow you to search BlueNC via our own BlueNC Search Engine. To use it, just click on the search tab located in the header of our site or the link to the left.

While I was playing around, I also set up a search engine of known Democratic bloggers here in North Carolina. What easier way to find out what North Carolina Dem bloggers have to say about our topic at hand? Please follow the link and do a search on your favorite subject. We sure are a prolific bunch.

Here are the blogs I've included. Please add any other blogs that should be included in the comments. I'll add them to the list this weekend. I know there are quite a few more out there.

Lefton49
Exile on Jones Street
Stop the NC Home Ticks
Andrew Jackson Dem
Orange Politics
NCPolitico
Progressive Discussions
Progressive Pulse
The Political Junkies
Nekkid Emperors
NCDP
BlueNC
Pam's House Blend
Ed Cone
The Southern Dem
Pat Go Bye Bye
Scrutiny Hooligans

Let me know what you think. I would like to add a tab or link on the sidebar for this second search engine, but I don't want to confuse the folks who just want a BlueNC search. I could name the link "NC Blog Search" and put it under BlueNC Search on the left sidebar.

What else needs some quick attention?

UPDATE

I have added the following blogs to the search engine. I know I'm missing some from Durham, so will find them later. I need to spend some time this morning with my family.

Ashevillian
InterstateQ
NC Conservation Network
Eighth District Dems NC (Waynes World)
Watauga Watch
Sifting the Sandhills (Green Sand)
Brocknet
J Ovittore
Plead the First
Bull City Blue
Greene Space
Yesh.com
Undercoverblue
Brain Shrub
Blog Asheville
Stinging-Nettle
AshVegas
Where is the Outrage?

Keep them coming.

Thanks for your input

I don't know why I didn't think of the NC bloggers search engine before. Duh.

Cool.

A blueNC search engine!! Whistles and cheers for Betsy!!

You have no idea how many times I've paged through people's blogs looking for a post I somehow thought I remembered reading here. No ... on second thought ... maybe you do.

Thanks, Betsy.

Here's two more

And I love both ideas. Search engine will be so used it ain't funny. Thanks, Betsy.

News of the 10th district: See Pat Go Bye Bye,

DQ - do you have a better link for Ashevillein?

It isn't coming up. I figure over time I'll go and raid everyone's blogrolls, but it is nice having the links here to help. :)

We now have 21 NC blogs being searched via the link on the left sidebar.

Thanks, Greg and Betsy

Greg for fixing AsheVillein's link (which works on my site. I must've screwed up with cutting and pasting here.)

Again, Betsy, awesome work on both projects. Thank you thank you thank you.

News of the 10th district: See Pat Go Bye Bye,

I will try tthis again,

but I have been constantly thwarted in my efforts to properly post links here, and this page's explanation:

http://bluenc.com/faq#3435n6155

hasn't helped me much.

I don't think the standard function

works all that well. I find it easier and way faster just to type in the stuff.

(a href="http://www.bluenc.com")BlueNC(/a)

where the parentheses are those little greater than/less than symbols. When I go into posts from others to fix links, I'd bet that 95% of them have used the little world icon . . . which usually ends up putting two "https" into their HTML.

I got it right that time

by using the globe and deleting the extra "http://, but I'm still foggy on using text as the link. I'll try it again:

For those who dabble in deconstructing sentences, this page may come in handy.

eta: dangit. Here's the link: Right here.

Thanks for fixing it. Here it is again on this spot

You didn't type the url into your code.

it would go between the "" quotation marks. Other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?

:)

You got it!

I used to have that code taped to my monitor . . . it took me about three months to get it deeply programmed into my brain. But even now if I think about it too much, I screw up and put my // in the wrong place . . .

someone with the know-how and access...

needs to put in the code so we get the little pop up box. Where, you highlight the text you made into a link, hit the globe, and a little box pops up for you to paste the url into. Then, it is inserted automatically.

Very nice.

For future reference when folks may not be working from the site, you can search BlueNC easily by entering text like this in the standard search window on your Google home page:

Puppetmaster site:bluenc.com

which will get you this delightful list.

Cool

typing

with no spaces lets you do this:

Wow. You learn something new every day.

nice

I like the search.

If I may go off in another direction, the time on our posts has not been updated to reflect daylight savings. It's very confusing.

BlueHawaii?

You better take that mess to Guam and leave my conceptions of time and space alone. Damn liberal.

Yay...Jerimee added the polls graphic!

Thank you, Jerimee. It's beautiful.

I've been too ill this week to even notice stuff like that

Drop me an email or use the tech contact form on the site even when little things crop up. If someone doesn't say something I might not notice.

Are there any good Republican blogging communities like this?

I'd love to see what they are thinking and talking about but I am too new to all this to know where to turn, so I thought I'd ask you guys if you knew of any. I've checked out some of the John Locke ones around, but they are not real active like this one.

Try the Civitas Circus

They have a few blogging clowns, one in particular named Max Borders, whose main claim to fame is his passion for boiling people alive when it serves the interests of the United States. If you visit there and comment, you'll really make their day.

Beyond that, the best place to find representative Republicans is at Ed Cone's place. There's a guy named Bubba and another named The CA. If you're like me, you'll be able to stand them for about 20 second before you need to throw up.

Are there any good Republican blogging communities likethis?Nope

Are there any good Republican blogging communities like this?* Teepack

The answer is nope and more nope. They are small with hardly anybody to be found on the sites except the last standing dead republican neo-con who operates the site. They are very lonely and usually try to puff up their egos by chatting with themselves as another persona on the site. At one time about three years ago they were burning up the Republican circles with a site call NC rumors until it was finally nuke by yours truly in a raging war that lasted 3 years. They finally surrender at the end without terms and the operater who was a high level republican decided his party had finally screw up a free lunch and simply said " screw you , you republican idiots."...you can still see his final good by at the site....below is listed the last remaining sites in NC.......Oh! A made a reference to two republicans name Bubba and CA at Ed Cone site. Bubba is a old retarded soul who really believes that the Republican party is still the center of the Universe and will save the planet once again by blowing up Iran, Russia, China, and making Rudy G the king of the Planet...CA is a young lawyer who appears to have no clients since he stays on the site all day long and considers himself the conservative leader of Greensboro and the Universe....Reality is not a strong point with both little boys...Good luck and happy hunting for republican myths and insanity on the net....
