I've been in a self-imposed media blackout for a month now, doing everything I can to steer clear of the stream of garbage flowing from Cheeto's vile, ugly mouth.

Today, however, I dipped my toe back into the national news to see what I might have missed. I tuned into the Diane Rheem show to hear what she and her pundits were talking about, and I gotta tell you, it was a disgusting orgy of mindless mediocrity. She and her guests sat around and talked through the outrageous insults that have been coming our way for weeks, treating the whole sick spectacle as though it's business as usual. If I didn't know better, I would have thought they were talking about reasonable people doing reasonable things.

But I do know better. They were talking about a cabal of compulsive liars, cheats, and con artists, each more despicable than the other. I found myself reaching a new level of outrage, and that's saying a lot.

So I resolved myself to continuing my national news blackout. I see no need to try to understand what Cheeto is up to, and no need to analyze or comment on his actions. It's a waste of time and energy, and as far as I'm concerned, there's only one thing to do.
