Cindy Sheenhan Speaks on the continue Wars?

"I remember back in the good ol’ days of 2005 and 2006 when being against the wars was not only politically correct, but it was very popular. I remember receiving dozens of awards, uncountable accolades and even was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Those were the halcyon days of the anti-war movement before the Democrats took over the government (off of the backs of the anti-war movement) and it became anathema to be against the wars and I became unpopular on all sides. I guess at that point, I could have gone with the flow and pretended to support the violence so I could remain popular, but I think I have to fiercely hold on to my core values whether I am “liked” or not."

"War" in Afghanistan

Mad Town, you have made a good post that you might not know means anything. We've gotten ourselves into a situation of getting out of George W. Bush's war in Iraq and are beefing up in Afghanistan. Why? Because President Obama believes (and rightly so) that this is the faction that was, in fact, the impetus for 911. And, the Taliban which resides in Afghanistan and just across the boarder in Pakistan is the element that we must be most vigilant against.

However, we're far more involved in Afghanistan than just to root out the radical muslim terrorists there. We're once again "nation building" but this time it is being accepted by Americans because of the atrocities of 911 and it is against those that initiated that attack on our country. Truth is stranger than fiction here, however. We're spending FAR more money gearing up our forces in Afghanistan than is absolutely necessary because we're also spending taxpayer money on developing an American-friendly government there...not unlike what we did in Iraq under Bush II.

In my opinion and yes, this is just my opinion, we should be demanding the Afghanistan government to work right along with our American troops to root out the Taliban and to iradicate that element even if it does reduce their income from poppy fields. Everything isn't about money.

Phony "War" in Afghanistan?

However, we're far more involved in Afghanistan than just to root out the radical muslim terrorists there. We're once again "nation building" but this time it is being accepted by Americans because of the atrocities of 911* Foxtrot

Naw! I am one of the many, many, many Americans who believe 9/11 was a inside job, after watching " Loose Change" in 05... If you really believe that 19 Muslin terrorists from Afghanistan, who never flew a large Jumbo highly technical Jet Aircraft with no flight training, than I want to show you some beach property near Raleigh after the North Pole melts....For the historial record, If Alexlander the Great couldn't control Afghanistan, than what makes you think that the Russians would return to finish Alexlander mission? Sorry Dude, The Republicans have the conspiracy market with the Birther's, Deather's, Gunner's, but on 9/11 they are terrific that what "Really" happen on 9/11 would banish the Republican Party from the Planet forever.

I see Pat Tillman's ghost has joined BlueNC as well

Is infiltrated a verb or adjective? What do you think Foxtrot?

When does the c-4 go off? Election day?

The Conspiracy theory lives on through Mad Town Madness

And what else will you blame on the government...? I guess you will say that bombs were secretly placed in the world trade center towers and that is what caused them to fall?

It seems that anger at the federal government plays a large part in the those that support the conspiracy theory. With the current level of anger at the government, I am sure the conspiracy theory is gaining momentum.

Thank God, the internet was not around during Pearl Harbor. I personally believe that in both Pearl Harbor and 911, we were just not paying attention.

As someone who survived the attack on the Pentagon, I can assure you that no missle fell there. It was a plane.

Establishment Chaos Conspiracy Theory 101?

As someone who survived the attack on the Pentagon, I can assure you that no missle fell there. It was a plane* Chaos

Show me the video pics of the Plane[?] whipping past the 24/7's dude? The Feds won't release them nor will they ever!!!!!!!! And stop trying to be a government inside spook or a Blackwater dummy on this site!

Thank God, the internet was not around during Pearl Harbor. I personally believe that in both Pearl Harbor and 911* Chaos

Stop trying to involve God and the internet in the phony attack on Pearl Harbor. Our Government was reading the Japaness Code for months and knew it was coming. They just didn't know where?

And what else will you blame on the government...? I guess you will say that bombs were secretly placed in the world trade center towers and that is what caused them to fall?* Chaos

Fool! What plane crash into WT7 and made it fall? And stop reading Model Airplane Hobby Mazines to make your so-called weird science myths work in a Harry Potter movie..

Um...okay

Something tells me I shouldn't respond to that so, I won't.

Afghan folly

Obama is a war criminal. And a liar.

He kept Robert Gates! When is the left going to admit that they got conned last November? Does it hurt too much to admit that Obama is the most successful marketing campaign by corporate America in history?

A liberal is someone who thinks the system is broken and needs to be fixed, whereas a radical understands it’s working the way it’s supposed to.

Fake Corporate Marketing Campaigns?

Does it hurt too much to admit that Obama is the most successful marketing campaign by corporate America in history?* CFR Ghost

You got that right! But when one thinks about it and it's brilliant marketing program. It was easy since one candiate was a old white guy and his partner was short on brains.......

Gates is irrelevant, Obama is in charge

Dr. Quigley - I can't believe that you are calling President Obama a war criminal. You have Bush and Obama confused. Bush invaded another country by lying to the world about the country having weapons of mass destruction and having any connection to Bin Ladin. Bush and Cheney then allowed the CIA and the military to break international law by torturing prisoners and killing innocent Iraqi's. Bush and Cheney then proceeded to violate our constitution and spy on American citizens. I could go on and on regarding the multiple ways that Bush and Cheney lied, stole, and broke multiple federal and international laws and how they thought that they are above the law. Obama hasn't done anything similar to Bush and Cheney. He is bringing soldiers home from Iraq, where they never should have been sent in the first place, and actually going after the people that attacked us on 9/11 in Afghanistan. I have not found an instance of lying from Obama, unlike Bush and Cheney that wouldn't know the truth if it hit them in the face.

BTW, maybe you are on the wrong web site, the name of this one is "bluenc" not "rednc" or "rnc". There is a reason that Gates has been kept on, I will trust in the President that he has a plan. Obama doesn't own stock in Haliburton or any other huge money sucking corporation that doesn't care about American laws or American lives, unlike Bush and Cheney.

The majority of people voted for Obama and the Democrats and you need to accept that and get over the fact that the party you so obviously support is now in the minority and stop being a sore loser.

Vacationing with a former anti-War Democrat?

There was a time when Cindy Sheehan couldn’t go anywhere without having a microphone and a TV camera stuck in front of her. As she camped out in front of George W. Bush’s Crawford ranch, mourning the death of her son Casey in Iraq and calling attention to an unjust, unnecessary, and unwinnable war, the media created in her a symbolic figure whose public agony epitomized a growing backlash against the militarism and unmitigated arrogance of the Bush administration. It was a powerful image: a lone woman standing up to the most powerful man on earth in memory of her fallen son.

Touting "an exclusive interview with Cindy Sheehan" on Good Morning America, four years ago ABC anchorman Charles Gibson intoned: "Standing her ground. She lost her son in Iraq, she opposes the war, now she’s camped out at President Bush’s ranch and says she won’t leave until he meets with her."

The level of coverage only increased in the coming days and weeks. As Cindy continued her vigil, Gibson enthused:

"All across the country protests against the war in Iraq, inspired by the mother standing her ground at President Bush’s ranch."

Flashing across their television screens, viewers saw the headline “MOM ON A MISSION: IS ANTIWAR MOVEMENT GROWING?” as Gibson averred:

“This morning a war of words. All across the country protests against the war in Iraq, inspired by the mother standing her ground at President Bush’s ranch. But is anyone in the White House feeling the heat?”

That was then. This is now: in an interview [.mp3] with Chicago’s WLS radio on Aug. 18, Gibson was asked whether his network planned to cover Sheehan’s plans to travel to Martha’s Vineyard, where she is protesting the escalation of the war in Afghanistan while President Obama is vacationing there. Gibson’s answer:

"Enough already."
