Dec. 2, 2006 - Flu Bug and me and Excellent Advice a Bit Too Late, But I'm Gonna Catch Up as Soon as I Can Get Out of Bed!

I've got the flu. (sigh, cough, cough, cough) I’m coughing, my head is filled with mucus and my tummy is roiling. Yep! That’s the flu alright. I got my Flu Shot faithfully the last week in October as I have done every year for ever. But this year I got the flu. A dear friend sent me the following advice but it came too late for me. So, I am passing it on to my Blog Buddies and hope you follow it to the letter. I know if I had I wouldn’t be this unhappy mass of germs that I am right now.
With my sincere best wishes for your continuing good health, Brenda Bee

How To Avoid The FLU

Eat right! Make sure you get your daily dose of fruits and veggies. Take your vitamins and bump up your vitamin C.

Get plenty of exercise because exercise helps build your immune system. Walk for at least an hour a day, go for a swim, take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.

Wash your hands often. If you can't wash them, keep a bottle of antibacterial stuff around.

Get lots of fresh air. Open doors & windows whenever possible.

Try to eliminate as much stress from your life as you can.

Get plenty of rest.

Take the doctor's approach.
Think about it...
When you go for a shot, what do they do first?
They Clean your arm with alcohol...
Because Alcohol KILLS GERMS.

I walk to the liquor store. (exercise)
I put lime in my Corona ...(fruit)
Celery in my Bloody Mary (veggies)
Drink outdoors on the bar patio. (fresh air)
Tell jokes, laugh....(eliminate stress)
Then pass out. (rest)
The way I see it...

If you keep your alcohol levels up,
flu germs can't get you!

Eliminate stress . . .

Hmmmm. That would mean stopping doing 99% of the things I do.
Ah well. Must be born to stress.

I will go get my Bloody Mary now

garnished with celery. Hope you feel better. I know the flu is not fun. Glad you were feeling well enough to stop by. Let us know how you're doing.

I am feeling better thank

I am feeling better thank you. It only lasted three days and really wasn't as bad as I remember the flu being before I started taking flu shots years ago. This is however the first time in years I have had the flu! Just what I needed while still trying to survive knee replacement surgery too. Oh well. Advice: Don't get old because it's the PITS. BB
Thank you both for stopping by. If you are from Greensboro/Guilford I am a caustic old broad who loves dissing the local pols at my other blog.

Glad you're better . . .

I have a friend who is just getting ready for knee replacement. Sounds rough.

Anyway, thanks for letting us know how you're doing. We really need a caustic old broad who knows how to diss local pols . . . so I hope you'll consider BlueNC your home away from home.

hehehe....I guess I'm either not caustic enough

or not old enough....

Don't respond to that, A.....just let me pretend I'm not old enough... :)

Glad you're feeling better. The flu is a nasty thing.
