Edwards cometh...

For all you doubting Thomases and other cutesy alias names - Edwards is coming.

From DailyKos comments:

JRE attended a fundraiser for Brad Miller in December 2005.
JRE will be doing an event with Heath Schuler in his district on August 22nd.

Also:

[new] I already received (5+ / 0-)

a reply from OAC and it's very positive. Keep the faith, I'm sure y'all will get your wish and JRE will campaign hard for state-wide and federal NC candidate like Larry, Heath and Brad, etc.

Yesssssss!

Save that screen shot in case we need a reminder :>)

I'm philgoblue and I want to

I'm philgoblue and I want to make sure that y'all know that my friend at OAC is pretty low on the totem poll (not someone who makes final decisions). While the Schuler visit is practically a done deal, there was never an assurance that "Edwards cometh" to Kissell and I don't think my posting makes such a promise (though I certainly hope along with y'all that the Kissell campaign and OAC find a way to get Edwards to the 8th).

Yeah...but lots of whispers and nudges

in all the right ears. Well..you know how that works. Thanks for speaking up. We have high hopes for Edwards to pull through for Larry. I still don't want to think that he's been hooked through the nose by DCCC. I don't trust Rahm. Nice to hear from you. We'll send some love letters John's way and see if we can talk him into helping Larry.

Edwards

Keep up those high hopes, I really don't think you'll be disappointed (I just don't want y'all to think that I talk to John on the phone every day or something like that). Stay positive, keep emailing, keep working for the good Democrats, and it'll all work out.

Then we will just have to make sure...

that you DO start talking to John on the phone everyday!!!

I have actually heard (although I can't find the damn comment anywhere) from someone in the campaign that we should be patient because "something" was going to happen.

So...

Maybe some day

Well, that would be wonderful, I won't hold my breath. Really I'd just like to have him over to the house once.

Sounds like we're hearing similar things: be patient, things are in the works.

Go John!

John Edwards is a real hit in these parts, and his presence will mean a lot to the Shuler campaign. Great news!

Scrutiny Hooligans - http://www.scrutinyhooligans.us

If Shuler and not Kissell...

what will the netroots think?

What will NC think?

I'm not sure why people don't give Larry the respect he deserves, as far as winning goes, not as a person of course. While Heath came out instantly with name recognition, connections, and $$$$; Larry came out with...(insert crickets chirping sound here).

I will now admit (because anyone can go back and find the comments) that I wasn't even a Kissell supporter in the beginning. Yeah, duh. Call me a leiberite. But, thankfully I was brought to my senses. Now, if only we can bring others to their senses and to the 8th.

Curious about Kissell

What do the polls say? Are there any? What was the race like in 2004 and before? What is the district like? Heck, I'll go sign up for BlueNC officially now and might even cut a check (OK, paypal) if I y'all can convince me that he's got a shot.

I'll let the others sell you

but I can tell you this is a Democratic district that was held by Democrats until Hayes bought his way in. His family owned textile mills that outsourced and cost people jobs. He voted for CAFTA, even though he had promised he wouldn't because NAFTA had done such damage to the area.

I made some calls for Kissell and one call stands out in my mind. I spoke to an elderly woman who said they liked to help out Robin if they could because he was from there (smallish town), but they couldn't understand some of what he had been doing lately. After talking with me for about a minute, me partially explaining why I thought he voted the way he did, her response was "Well, it's time for him to go."

Kissell is in the spot now that when his voice is heard, his message heard, people meet him - they join him. They back him. He's a former textile mill worker, which means almost everyone in that area knows that he has lived through the same things they have. That's important. That is the first reason i started following John Edwards because he spoke of a life that I had lived when the coal mines shut down. That's important.

If Larry is heard, the Dems will regain this seat.

Thanks

I'm verified now!

NAFTA-CAFTA and unregulated, investor-dominated, "free"-trade is one of my top issues. It's clear that MI and NC have experienced similar job losses because of the drive to the bottom. I'll look forward to others selling points and will make good on making that donation (as I'll keep working on getting John to work for Larry).

It is good to have you.

I think much of America is feeling the pinch right now. But, in a place like NC there wasn't much "give" in the economy, so NAFTA/CAFTA really killed those areas that relied on textiles.

PA was similar when steel moved overseas and coal production disappeared.

Yes, welcome!

You'll find everything you ever wanted to know about Larry Kissell right here at BlueNC. Well, maybe not everything, but this'll definitely get you started. Thanks for registering!

I'm In!

I just sent him $25 via his website via paypal. Not a lot of money, but my small part from West Michigan.

Thanks for the tag links, very impressive. Nice to see him posting here (I'd paid a little attention to his dkos postings). I look forward to watching the race, wish him and y'all all the best, and will be sure to bookmark BlueNC!

Kissell's Viability

Yes there are polls. There was an independent one done by Public Strategies and one done by the campaign that was released that both show him up by at least 5 on the initial informed vote. In the last election the Troutman numbers never got over 40% and the Hayes numbers never went under 50% Kissell is leading Hayes by more than 10 points after the final informed vote--Hayes is in trouble.

By the way, Larry's 91 year old mom who was a Math teacher for many years remembers Larry playing football against Senator Edwards when East Montgomery High played his High School. They have a lot in common. They learned a lot from hard working parents and came back to their home State and went to work to make it a better place.

Larry's dad was a postal worker and WWII veteran and taught him a great deal about serving others. Larry graduated with a degree in Economics from Wake Forest and came home and worked in the mill for 27 years before becoming a teacher 5 years ago.

John Edwards

was the first Democratic leader to contact Ned Lamont after last night's win according to Lamont. He simply has to step forward for Kissell. Rahm slammed Lieberman and Hillary cut a $5000 check...but Edwards was first and that makes me love him even more.

I noticed that as well...

he's making the right moves, and I don't care if they are just "moves".

I have a feeling

Kissell will get some help. I sent Kissell a contribution in response to the post from our own wunnerful SouthernDem and I think Edwards would not forego the oppty to help someone so clearly on the side of the ideas Edwards supports.
