NC House Speaker Tillis lied about college credentials on web site?

Hat Tip to Watauga Watch and Talking Point Memo...

Looks like Tillis has been promoting himself as a graduate of an institution he never attended.

Would anyone really confuse UNC-Greensboro or UNC-Chapel Hill or UNC-Pembroke with an online course that was completely separate from the University?

Does Tillis really expect us to believe this crap?

In his own words

Although his lackeys are attempting to say it's just a mistake made by...well, his lackeys, Thom himself said:

“I was a partner at Pricewaterhouse before I got my four year degree. I graduated from University of Maryland, 1996, or ’97 actually,” Tillis said [in an April 2012 radio interview].

It's not a one-time thing. Virtually all sources contained the wrong information.

the instances in which Tillis is listed as a graduate of the University of Maryland, instead of UMUC, are widespread.

Did any source ever contain the correct information? A Tillis lackey claimed that he could point to "several examples" of Tillis saying publicly that his degree came from UMUC, but apparently did not offer any such examples.

We don't often agree with the right-wing lunatic fringe, but a Tillis rival makes a good point:

I’m sure there is an explanation here, and I think the voters should hear it directly from Mr. Tillis, not one of his hired political guns,” [Mark] Harris said in a statement.

Yeah, there must be an explanation here. The most likely one is that Tillis deliberately tried to mislead people about where he went to school. Why would he do so?

Perhaps Tillis ...

... is too ashamed to admit that when he took all those online courses, he thought he was actually taking classes from the University of Maryland.

Interestingly

Tillis (or one of his lackeys) revised his Wikipedia entry to remove information that he lived in the Washington, DC area.

So he doesn't want people to know he lived in DC, but wants people to think he attended U. Maryland.

Go figure.

Pay no attention!

Let's move on, people. King Thom says it doesn't matter where he went to school, and it doesn't matter that he lied.

Let's not pay this any heed, says Thom.

After all, people should be used to their ALEC corporate tools being ignorant liars by now.
