Remember back in July when a brand new state Senator from Charlotte was introduced here as a "Dem to Watch"? Jeff Jackson has earned a bit of good press since then and today he is at it again. You see, Jeff showed up for work even though today's session had been cancelled. He is now singlehandedly trying to fix the mess the Republicans have created.
He announced this on his Facebook page:
Due to inclement weather, I appear to be the only non-security person in the General Assembly this morning.
I feel like I should hurry up and pass Medicaid expansion.
Anything else while I've got the place to myself?
His fans and followers chimed in with suggestions like, equitable redistricting and voting rights.
We then received a very short update and for a brief moment we lived in a North Carolina that................
Just came back from the Senate chamber. All votes were unanimous.
Medicaid = expanded. Teachers = paid. Film = jobs. What's next?
This is going to be like "Night at the Museum" except at the end we'll have a stronger middle class.
