In other races

Wake County Commissioner candidate John Burns commented recently that BlueNC doesn't seem to be as plugged in for district and local elections as we should be. He's right. So let's open the discussion to all the many "other" races that will be so important in the current primary election and in November.

5th district

Does anyone have comments or opinions about the Democratic primary in the 5th?

  • Will Stinson
  • Gardenia Henley
  • Michael W. Holleman
  • Joshua Brannon

In my quick review of websites, I came away with a great impression of Brannon, who seems to be a newcomer to the scene.

Please weigh in.

There was a time

There was a time when my old stomping grounds, Surry County, was a part of the 5th. It feels weird for it to be a part of the 6th. I wonder how many people think of congressional districts like that? I feel that I grew up near the mountains, I grew up in Surry County, I grew up in Mayberry, I grew up on the edge of the Triad, and I grew up in the 5th.

Now Mt. Airy shares common district lines with Orange & Durham Counties which I never pictured myself as in close community with growing up at least. There was a time when I would have known more about or had more comments on the 5th, but they've upped and redrawn the lines on my community.

Thanks, James

No criticism was intended. I was just surprised after some of the old wars that occurred around the LG race a few years ago.

Maybe my ego just needed a little boost with some likes. :)

I eventually take every thing to heart and your point about local races struck home.

We're pulling for you.

You go John

We'll take back NC one county at a time.
