Today’s Sports Metaphor (political cartoon)

Today we deviate away from The Spicy Fish Prophecy to discuss a more important issue- THE GATOR BOWL! As you may now, I spent part of my childhood in West Virginia and just had to do a strip on this when I heard it on the news this morning. I rarely do strips on sports - off hand I can't think of a single one, but today I made an exception.

FYI, here is an article from Savannah Now:

Academic issues will force Georgia Tech to play without quarterback Reggie Ball and cornerback Kenny Scott in the Gator Bowl.

Both were ruled academically ineligible Wednesday, head coach Chan Gailey said. Georgia Tech completed the fall semester with final exams last week.

"Although this a very, very bad ending to the careers of these two young men, we can't forget the contributions they have made to the Georgia Tech program the last four years," Gailey said. "Hopefully, they will learn from this unfortunate experience."

I just blurted out the punchline to my wife and she giggled so much, I knew it had to be today's strip. I worked really hard to tie some dark political meaning to this and thought it was a reach to conclude Western Civilization is a failure due to college sports.

I guess I just punked out today.

See I knew I was safe coming to Blue

because I wouldn't laugh and get started coughing again. There you've gone and done it. Hilarious.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

Bush furious.

"Them fellars need to call their Daddy's, get this thing straightened out."
