Virginia Foxx has "very little tolerance" for student loan holders

I bet she also had to walk ten miles to school barefoot on broken glass, too:

I went through school, I worked my way through, it took me seven years, I never borrowed a dime of money. I have very little tolerance for people who tell me that they graduate with $200,000 of debt or even $80,000 of debt because there’s no reason for that. We live in an opportunity society and people are forgetting that.

It's easy to forget that "opportunity society" thing when every semester you've got to cough up $3,500 in tuition and fees, $500+ for fricking books, $350 for parking, and $125 for a decent sleeping bag and an industrial-sized case of ramen noodles. By the way, the Oriental flavor never gets old.

And this idiot actually

chairs the House Sub-Committee on higher education.

I was going to say something about a Foxx in the henhouse, but the joke fell apart when I pictured a bloody feather stuck to the side of her face. ;/

Here is a suggestion....

She should ask for her damn money back because that was a waste of time.

The essence of trade unionism is social uplift. The labor movement has been the haven for the dispossessed, the despised, the neglected, the downtrodden, the poor.--A. Phillip Randolph

Foxx neglects to mention

she went to school in Victorian times so , no, it didn't cost much then.

I had

I had a part time job, scholarships, and still racked up student loans. But it was either that, or stay in district 5 and not go to college. As the son of a public school teacher, its not like we had tons of money to cover college costs, especially since my twin brother and myself were going at the same time.

It's hard to imagine why someone who is supposed to have an education background hasn't updated their understanding of higher education in so long. And yet she'll be re-elected pretty easily. She said a kids murder was a hoax in front of the kids own mother in a very public way last round of elections, and that didn't even really phase the election campaign, so its hard to imagine not understanding education being a big deal for the electorate either.

Your 'misunderestimating'

No. If the mainstream media in Foxx's District ran this story, along with her idiotic quotes, she'd be given an award.

Of course she's wrong, and a mountain-inbred imbecile. But so are enough of her voters to make her very calculated and focus group tested statement way more valuable to her than logic, reason and all your degrees put together.

Republican elected officials are not mouth-breathing retards. Their base is, and they wouldn't have it any other way. When we are as as Virginia Foxx, we'll finally take that district and help those mouth-breathing retards that don't know when to go back in the trailer when it rains.

What you need to do is attack her for NOT being a self made hillbilly inbred. Expose the poseur and give the people a real choice rather than the knee jerk defense that comes from attacking her for being one of them.

Nothing wrong with being mountain-bred

or being born in New York City as Foxx was. But bad policy positions and mean-spirited statements from elected officials don't do much for me.

and nothing wrong with living

and nothing wrong with living in a trailer either, kind of an insulting post

I'm a moderate Democrat.

If you are still wondering why working class whites in the southern Appalachians continue to vote against their own economic interests look no further than this condescending comment that simply furthers the perception that progressives hold the white, rural working class in disdain.

It is a condescending comment

And I contemplated removing it or editing some of the more offensive parts. But I'm not so sure it was a progressive who wrote it. One clue is: Most progressives I know would not use the term "retard" in a sentence, because they have a strong empathy for all disadvantaged people, including the mentally ill.

But I guess this is as good a time as any to do a little lecturing: We decided to open up the site to anonymous posting to encourage more people to join the conversation, even those with opposing views. That said, we still expect commenters to exercise a certain amount of restraint, and try to avoid terms and forms that could be unnecessarily hurtful to a wider audience than the initial target. Rush's "slut" reference is a good example, if you really need one. End lecture.

Does that mean

that using the term "power hungry asshole" is an inappropriate reference to Thom Tillis ... or is truth still the ultimate defense?

I guess that might offend

other power hungry assholes, but I think we can let that one slide. ;)

Um.. just in case

Since no one else has decried it... it's unacceptable in a decent world (and just plain mean) to use the term "retard" -- really, truly -- no matter who you are talking about. Four-year-olds know this these days. So sorry you are having to muck out the stables, Steve.

It's a labor of love

Democracy can be messy sometimes, and anger can bring out the worst in us. It would be nice if we could just be "for" some thing instead of "against" other things, but injustice thrives in that environment, so...

Virginia Foxx was let go as

Virginia Foxx was let go as President of the Community College and she carries a big grudge. Of course it's easy to see why she made a terrible one since she doesn't really believe in education for everyone.
