Why are you so upset?

The evil we face...

As I said at MyDD:

Wow, once again, we have to remind ourselves that our opponents are evil, immoral, and want to destroy our way of life. Which is why we have to defeat them, at the ballot box, on November 7th.

After that, then we can {fight the terrorists}.

You're absolutely correct....

we have to get rid of the traitors in government before we can really get the terrorists. Great post!!

Stan Bozarth

Where to begin ...

War, deficits, crooks in office, liars in office, vets tossed under the bus, cheats in office, greedheads in office, clogged highways, small minded dimwits running damn near everything, secret agreements between Cheney and the assholes who are wringing every dime they can out of me at the gas pumps ... until 60 days before the election ... gggrrrrr!!

I scare my cats when I'm like this.

We could make it all go away, you know. We could just stop paying attention. We could bury ourselves in the teevee. Or we could buy a little piece of land in Licthenstein or Lithuania or on the Baltic somewhere.

But our children would curse our graves.

60 days, y'all. It's just getting started good. Eat your Wheaties. We're gonna need every ounce we got.

thanks, A

pretty cool coming from a guy who writes like you! :)

I don't think Bush is crazy...

I think he's Goofy.

Betrayal...

I don't post much...but I read, and I write letters to the editor. This one was published this week in the Wilmington Star-News.

I hope it resonates with your thoughts...

While Congress dithers over flag burning and tax cuts for the super-rich, our pressing problems go unattended. Our soldiers are dying daily in Iraq in a war foisted upon us with misinformation. Our debt grows by $1.77 Billion daily and now exceeds $8,508,000,000.000.00 or @ $30,000 for every citizen. man, woman and child. Our middle class is being destroyed by the failure of our elected leaders to halt export of our jobs and industry to cheap foreign labor markets, or to stop unscrupulous employers from hiring illegal immigrants rather than Americans. Forty million citizens live in poverty. Millions more have no health insurance. There hasn’t been a minimum wage increase in 9 years.

The dubiously named Family Prosperity Act minimum wage bill was tied to a reduction in the Estate Tax for the super-wealthy. This bill would have increased the wages of 5.6 million of our poorest workers by approximately $1,200.00 next year AND given about 800 of our wealthiest citizens $1.3 Million each. Republican Senators Dole and Burr, among the 2002 top 20 money recipients from the Pharmaceutical Industry (Burr also took $299K in 2004) paid back the favor by passing Medicare D allowing seniors to be charged up to 10 times more for drugs than VA negotiated prices. Democratic Representative McIntyre is so unengaged he’s sprouting mushrooms. We are being systematically betrayed.

Stan Bozarth

Thanks, Stan.

This is a great letter and it sums up the whole sad story. Glad you brought it over. Thanks.

Please continue to share your letters. We all need good 'start thoughters' and this provides plenty of motivation.

Nice letter, Stan

Thanks for sharing it.

The more we speak up in the public square, the stronger we appear. The stronger we appear, the stronger we are.

Why am I upset, A?

I'm upset because I've lost friends to war started over money, power and lies.

I'm upset because America is no longer the leader of the free world. We've been thrust from our position for three men's machismo and wallets.

I'm upset because too many millions of Americans can't see, even after 5 years, that this government wants total control of EVERYTHING within our borders. And that includes us.

I'm upset because after NAFTA and CAFTA became law, my dad has become worried that he's going to lose the job he's had for almost 20 years.

I'm upset because my daughter is going to have to pay back the massive debt this government has built.

Mostly, though, I'm upset because my daughter is growing up in a time of war. She knows there are Marines fighting in the desert and that they're dying. She has friends whose parents are deployed. She knows that I was deployed and that I'm not a Marine anymore, but she still says it's not fair that I'm home while other people are gone to 'fight the enemy'.

Thomas

What have YOU done today to make the world a better place?

Exactly.

This is a perfect expression of the tragedy of George Bush . . . well said.

I stopped being upset

As a rule, I gave up anger after Bush won in '04. Being upset was eating me up, so I decided to get active instead. Some are blessed with the twin gifts of righteous anger and endless energy. Me? I get angry, and I end up drunk somewhere yelling.

I'm sure that the people in charge of our country are doing the wrong things. And I'm certainly not going to do too much sitting around pretending it isn't happening. But you won't see me angry very often. If you do, remind me I wrote this.

Their website makes the point that

American Exceptionalism is closest in politial bent to Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny, even at my rednecky, rural high school was taught as a political philosophy that lead to the extermination of an entire race.

This group obviously wants the same kind of thing, anti-immigration, anti-minority, anti-brown people.

A Mother's wisdom

Want to see a 30 second spot that'll make you smile?

It's priceless. Seriously. Heh. I recently received a report from the Pres. of DWNC (Democratic Women of NC) about Southern Women turning against Bush and Republicans in large numbers. Wish I could get one of these made for every Republican running for every office in November ... from County Commissioner to School Board to State Legislature to US Congress. I'd post 'em everywhere.

I give you ... the wisdom of a good Mother. :)

I tried to email these to myself, but it's not coming through for some reason. Can you please give me the YouTube links to both these vids? I'd like to post them at ScruHoo.
